Possible to solo build a sustainable map pool above level 72 Y/N?
|
Is it possible to build up a map pool playing purely SOLO that is sustainable above the level 70-72 mark, without purchasing maps?
And yes I know it's theoretically possible especially if you never get bad RNG, but I'm more interested in proof e.g. has anyone done this? I feel like the ~72 mark I hit a wall and no matter what I do, I can't build up a reliable pool above that. Keep falling back down to about 69/70 and having to build back up. I want to say yes, but then my map pool ran dry yesterday, down to 3 temple maps. It will turn around again though.

I'm not 100% sure, unless you have alot of IIQ and gather all the low end maps to merge into higher end maps.
I dont think 72+ maps drop all to often, even in 78 maps, so just gather every map that drops and merge it into better maps. You might be able to that way. Otherwise, I dont think so. This is of course by you meaning the build to be 1. Solo 2. No trades 3. Only running maps and bosses 'It is good to contact a moderator if you feel someone is being a twat' Charan, Forum Moderator

" Following these rules myself, my maps ran out at level 84. I now farm Piety/Dom and turn 66's into higher as I farm. I can't afford 5 chaos per map at all, so this is my option, and I'm ok with it. I don't mind boss runs. I would prefer the system in place gave at least one map per run, of equal or higher level, but what can you do? This is how they made the game, and I can enjoy it, or quit. So far, I have one 69 map back, as the highest. I am slowly converting any I get, and farming the two bosses. With decent speed, I've gained half a level at 84 farming the two. In the meantime, I'm gaining orbs and some loot, and have a stash tab reserved for the chaos orb recipe. This is my progress report at 84 ;) EDIT* Highest map I had before I ran out was 73, Dark Forest. I loaded it up with the worst possible modifiers and chiseled it to over 100% quantity, got bent over sideways by devourers, and still ran dry ha. Such is life. So, yeah, it's possible but you gotta plan on spending 3-5 chaos per map to get a "decent" roll. You probably won't get away with just alching them. You also gotta chisel everything 73 or 74 and higher. It was also NOT POSSIBLE as far as I could tell prior to the release changes. Anarchy/Onslaught T shirt

Its entirely possible. I solo'd all of my maps, never bought any, and I have at least 15 lvl 77/78 maps and probably 30 lvl 73-76 maps. Of course, my map drops have gone to shit the last week, so my stock is going quick. Once I run out, I'll quit playing, no way I'm going to farm lvl 69 maps at lvl 90+. I only get 5% xp on lvl 78 maps as it is. Its expensive and still prohibitively difficult for the average player IMO. You shouldn't have to rely on RNG for there to be an end game. You should only be limited by your build and skill, not by blind luck.

" While I won't quit, I do agree very much. Playing the game shouldn't be determined by random chance. It's why Torchlight 2's mapworks is vastly superior to here. I could keep playing as long as I wanted. Here, if I don't have any maps, I literally cannot play, and that is not a good thing I don't think. I farm Piety/Dom, but this is all I can do, or stop playing. It should be taken very seriously that this is a very large issue. The game literally prevents you from playing. That is not a good thing. Most, like you, will not have my patience to endure trying to build the pool back. I heard Chris talk about player retention in the end-game in his interview with the one streamer. Here is your issue sir. Retention drops to zero if you literally cannot play. |

I only play solo, lvl 94 in Nemesis with one tab of 74-78 and ~100-150 lvl 72-73 maps currently only chiseling 76+, So yea it's possible.
I did the same in Onslaught and had a much harder time sustaining maps there. Last edited by Skvimpan#3065 on Jan 10, 2014, 1:14:06 AM
