Can you freeze bosses?

Yeah, I was freezing middle tier Map Bosses on my non-Crit Glacial Hammer build in Rampage, so I'm surprised at how everyone is saying it's nearly impossible now; did they nerf Freeze on Bosses or something since then?

I know they changed the minimum requirement for Status Ailments, but shouldn't that make it EASIER to get them on Mobs/Players now? :S
I think the big nerf was with 2.0. There's some tidbit of information in the patch notes about a change, but no information is given on what it was before that. No way to tell if it's a nerf or a boost, but it probably was a nerf :p I think they lowered the minimum threshold for status ailments to take effect, but at the same time decreased the status duration you got for a given amount of damage.

Some anecdotal evidence: in betweem torment and awakening one of my characters in standard was a bow coc cold snap build. At the time I could perma freeze 77 piety with single barrage coc ice spear/cold snap (maximizing damage per hit). Post 2.0 I no longer got any noticeable freezing on a 77 Piety using the same setup in similar conditions.
Its possible to freeze bosses, but you need a decent setup to do this.

The base minimum freeze duration is 0.3s, that means you have to do 6% of the boss hp pool as damage with a single hit.

You can reduce this number using jewels with inc freeze duration. For example with jewels and passives and a freeze duration bonus of 100% you only would need 3% HP damage to freeze for 0.3s.

Also Mapbosses have 60% reduced curse effect, so with 72% curse effect bonus will become to 12% curse effect bonus. With 12% curse effect bonus, temp chains will let freeze last 81% longer.
