Righteous Fire

Was wondering if it will ignite enemy
No, it's a burn, but it's not an ignite. You can read more about how Ignite is created from skills here:

Yes i understand that but what i meant is that apart from the normal fire dmg, will it cause ignite to occur. Because there will be 2 damage source at the same time. I am wondering if there is an item or skill which will add ignite chance on fire dmg. Since rf is a fire dmg, wud it b possible for it to trigger them. Probably adding to the final dps output for afew secs.

No, RF is a Degen...and mobs can only be ignited "On Hit".

...RF does not "Hit" so it can't be linked to things like...
-Chance to ignite(on hit)
-Curse on Hit
-Life Gain on Hit

Hmm, sorry about that i shud have been more specific. What if i use the taming ring? It says 5% chance to ignite. If i were to use RF, will it activate the Ignite? Because RF is fire damage. If it will, how will it stack? Im in dilemma nw.

How is "Burn" different than "Ignite" Because to ignite anything implies a causal relationship to that thing being set ablaze. Which is the definition of burning.

Am I crazy?

burn is an on-hit effect caused by chance to ignite or a critical strike. It causes 4/3'rds the damage of the initial hit over 4 seconds (by default)

RF is not a true burn, it's a constant degeneration of health (fire damage per second) based on your HP/ES. It looks the same, but mechanically speaking it's completely separate. It just happens to also be quenched by quenching potions. RF's fire damage is constant. Since it does not hit and so it won't apply any of the normal on-hit gems like chance to ignite

Not anymore.
It's 20% each second over 4 seconds.
Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!

It's actually a pretty clear situation here.

- Burn is a damage type that does fire damage over time.
- Ignite is a status that does burning damage based on initial hit.

Poison is much more confusing, as you saw in that thread.

It didn't just happen, they made it like that on purpose, just for RF, and worded it differently.
See, flask of grounding says 'removes shock'.
But flask of dousing doesn't say 'removes ignite', it says 'dispels burning'.

You can see it's really designed to specifically stop RF buff because most burning sources in the game are sustained, not timed. When you use it on a patch of burning ground you just start burning again, same goes for those flame aura miscreations or dominoe's totems. It works pretty much just on ignite and RF but they still had to word it like that.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
