Dual Claw + Cyclone
I'm making a dual wield claw shadow, using this: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/461565/page/1 build.
Currently in act 3 Cruel, and I'm having a problem: desync. My main skill is Cyclone + Multistrike +Added Fire Damage + Melee Physical Damage + Life Leech + Mana Leech. The damage, survivability, or mana isn't an issue. I usually only die when Cyclone desyncs and I can't leech to stay alive. I tried the other skills mentioned and did a bit of research. All of the have the same problem: they do less damage and heal me less effectively as a result. Nevermind the targeting issues. I know Cyclone is desync prone, especially with Multistrike. I tried taking out the Multistrike, but then I wasn't leeching enough mana to keep going. The skill seems really overpowered, especially since my claws are 24 levels lower than the monsters I fight. What can I do to mitigate the desync? In the guide, he said to flicker to get back to mobs, this works fairly well if I realize I'm desynced in time. Is there anything else to know? And of course, the real question: Is Cyclone good endgame? |

1. Level Life Gain on Hit gem and replace Life Leech gem. This is the key. Cyclone does tons of small hits. And most of the time you hit several enemies. With Life on Hit you get tons of life, and there is no 20% life leech restriction. You heal instantly.
2. Forget Multistrike. Replace it with Blood Magic. Mana problems solved. Remember, that you get a lot of life from Life on Hit. No need for Mana Leech either. 3. How to use Cyclone without desync (well, almost)? Easy. Do not click on monsters. Click on the ground, hold the button and guide your character to enemies manually. The only time you want to click on monster and hold the button is when you fight rare or boss and it is the only remaining enemy on screen. I don't know if there are similar Cyclone guides on the forum, I figured all of this myself. Also I'm using rapier (its range is like a two-hand weapon) and shield for greater survivability. Also Cyclone benefits from SLOWER movement speed. My character move as slow as a snail (using leap slam to move around faster). Here is my build: And here is a video of this character in action in Lunaris 2 and 3 including killing Kole and Piety. Note, that my equipment is absolute shit. No Iron Reflexes and no Unwavering Stance. 640 armor, lol. Still this guy manages to survive somehow, although barely. With good equipment it will be much better. Video: http://youtu.be/c_ftOgPX_04 P.S. Note that I desync only when I click on a monster, not the ground. Like in Kole and Piety fights. |

Complete nonsense. Running cyclone at slow speed and without multistrike is a "solution" only to the extent that PoE's net code is crap and can't handle the game's own mechanics. It's self-defeating in terms of actual clearing speed and PoE will remain effectively beta software until these combinations of skills/support actually work. I stopped playing (lvl 82 cyclone/dual strike duelist with Wings of Entropy) because by the time you're in the early 80s, randomly ripping to blue packs in lvl 70-72 maps that you would otherwise destroy without desync gets old very fast.

I never understood why people would ever even think about dual wielding cyclone lol.. You should learn the mechanics before you make a mistake.
