Veil of the Night unique helm: Possible purposes and uses?

What are some possible uses and purposes behind this item? Is it worthwhile in any case?

The reflected lightning damage on a successful block doesn't seem worthwhile unless you stack elemental damage and added damage gems on Tempest Shield.

The low defenses and low increased global defenses modifier don't seem to make even a good impact. I tried it on multiple characters, and even helms with ~200 armor seem many times better.

It's an ingredient item, most likely, doesn't even cut it as a levelling unique. Resists are so vital it would need some pretty silly advantage to make us work around the drawback. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any.

No incentive = no build.

it's great for a low visibility build - i really don't understand why they release this uniques I just don't get it.

I find it terrific for vendoring for alch shards.

well you could use it for brutus encounter at cruel and merciless at the very least, then again considering item level it wasnt created for this purpose( you could also use it in felshrine farming for higher defence(would be somewhat viable in hc/sc(wouldnt work in nemesis tho due to the fact that storm herald can spawn), even then its not that good in felshrine since there might be rares with extra elemental damage mods.

Ah, that might explain it.

Hopefully it's something to do with block or reflect, that'll be very fun.

Rebo, uniques are for making chance orbs, not alch shards!

hehehe I should, but its too high of a base to go searching for what with wanderlust and crown of thorns and silverbranch all easily available together!

Wear it with immortal flesh (-40 all resistances) and lightning coil (-60 lightning resistance) and cap your block for both attacks and spells and you might start to see a use for it .. still unblockable spells will melt you but it's a start.

Some sort of a reflect build with tempest shield and a spiked shield could be viable.

Edit: With anvil, this, tempest shield and a 200 thorns shield you're already looking at ~~500-800 reflect on block without modifiers

So only 1 out of 4 heavy hitting ele spells will instantly kill you with max block. Nice.
