Why dont quivers have sockets?

Well every other class's second hand has sockets, and imo sheilds and second weapons out way any quiver iv found. They get armour damage bonuses, block percentage, and tons more.

On average thats 3 or 4 less gems a ranger can have over any other race.

Just wondering is i could get a ggg team member to give us reasoning.

I'm not sure whether we want to support slots on quivers. It's not my call, but some food for thought:
Bows are two-handed weapons. Unlike all other two handed weapons, they let you have a non-weapon item in the off hand as well.
Like all two-handed weapons, bows can spawn with up to 6 slots, the most available on any item type. So putting slots on quivers gives Bow users access to more total slots than any other weapon combination, where now they get the same number of slots as any other two-handed weapon.

I'm pretty sure bows have the same socket limits as two-handed melee weapons, so you're not missing out.

Most marauders and templars also have the same restriction (most use two-handed axes, maces, or staves), and *don't* get an item of any kind they could put in their off-hand.

I could turn this around and say that there should be off-hand items that can be attached to two-hand staves, maces, axes, or swords.

I would suggest making Bows have 3 sockets and quivers 3 sockets, it would make equipping your Ranger/bow class far easier.

Finding 1 item with 6 sockets that you need is waaaaay harder than finding 2 items with 3 sockets that you need.

That's one of the downsides with using 2-handers, but I don't think it should apply to bows.

Wouldn't the advantage be that you could have more elaborate support setups in a 2 handed weapon?

Yes. But it's also way harder to get the items. You basically have one slot less in 3+3 setup assuming you're filling up with support gems.

I've personally never seen an item, weapon or armor with 6 sockets
