Large Chests

NO, not the kind that show up on a G(O-o)gle searh. The kind in game you click on and expect a whole bunch of l(O-o)t to fill your screen.

From my experience this ladder season, when I first made my toons, these chests were awesome when I ran into one. It seemed to always drop at least a yellow but enough times it was multiples and an occasional unique (in early levels). But now in higher levels it's changed.

One of my toons is near 80 and because my gear isn't the greatest, I spent a LOT OF TIME doing Catacombs; just for leveling, just to see what drops, just for fun. That place has a chance at spawning a Large Chest... -> Chance = RNG and sometimes it was a lot but most of the time it didn't show up. And the drops weren't like early on.

From my experience, everytime that chest would spawn it was: in one word -> SUCKS!

Is there a reason for that? Like are there bots that run the place 20x over that it would take a legit player to run and therefore get the rng chance to find great gear? Is that why that large chest drops crap?

TL;DR

Early levels Large Chests drop good - end game large chests drop CRAP. Is there a reason for that?

I remember some time ago large chests were nerfed due to people just farming them. They would use flasks to run past everything, find it, collect drops, and leave. That kind of thing can tank the economy.

Also, play in parties. Last time I was in a party with a large chest, we got more rares than we could fit in our inventories.(we were all friendly, so we split the loot amicably)

GGG should consider different tiers of large chests. Ordinary, Magic, Rare, and Unique. Also a good opportunity to put in one of my all time favorite D&D encounters.....the Mimic.

They always drop crap for me. I think my best drop was an Alt.

Meh... then they should save some programming space and delete them. Like I wouldn't even of thought of this if they weren't there to begin with. Just put another chest in there is all.

Well gee, I'm glad we dodged THAT bullet.

Too bad the economy was already tanked, anyway.

That's really not the issue. I think most players poke the chest anyway. The real issue is why put a "Large Chest" in there to begin with and in early levels have it drop fairly good. But in later levels it drops dudley squat. If it's even there to begin with. Seems a waste of programming in my view.
I have been farming catacombs as it is the easiest area with a high level other than maps. Given that it's already a great area to fight in having the large chest that spawns there reliably drop multiple rares and a unique would be rediculous.

That said last time I popped it I got 2 portal scrolls and a wisdom scroll, I think it could do a little better than that =P

Also iir/iiq doesn't effect chests at all correct?
