Why play a duelist?

Its funny how everyone thinks they need iron reflexes as a dualist. I was an hybrid dualist in alpha, str/dex 2h sword. I grabbed all leather and steels+arrow dodging. Arrow dodging is soooo good. Since it doesnt have a negative. Also used hybrid armor/evasion armor.

In the end I had like all resist 80%, 2.8k life, 58% evasion, 42% armor. I did fine in the higher difficulties. Duelist might start off abit weak, but at 50+ it doesnt really matter. You can grab alot of very strong nodes as hybrid. Sure, OBT is abit different. But these principles are still the same.

This is all I've read on the matter: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/70478

"We know Duelists currently need some love. They aren’t performing as well as we think they should. Some of this will be covered by new skills, but we will also look at their passive skill tree and quest rewards. Unfortunately, we knew we couldn’t give them the attention they deserved before Open Beta. Looking ahead, we will continue to make changes to the overall class balance as well."

Just food for thought. I didnt think that Duelists were underpreforming but apparently they are getting a little love soon, which excites me.

I'm starting to think that by "underperforming," they mean "not attractive enough to players." There's not a single Duelist in the top 10 ladder and it was pretty much the same for the last 2 months I was in closed beta. I tried running a 1hr race as Duelist, but he's just too late of a bloomer for that. Also, starting him with Cleave is kind of rough for somebody's first Hillock encounter (I just auto-attack him to death - also not good for races).

i do not think it is a must. but is it worth getting iron reflexes along with unwavering stance if iron reflexes stack with the leather and steel nodes?
Shitysushi - Arrow shooting build.
Sendeliriante - hollow palmer
I saw some say that the Evasion/Armour nodes were actually inferior to pure armour nodes when using Iron Reflexes, I think due to the evasion portion no longer being calculated or something? can anyone confirm that? The Duelist has the opportunity to take either pure armour or the armour/evasion nodes very easily, so just not sure which is best
I also read that leather+steel is only calculated once now. I would say this is quite likely to be true, since apparently it was blatantly strong before.

Also, for those saying duelist is weak:

only played a duelist, but it seems quite strong so far.

Level 45. 700+ single target dps with 100+ life on hit per second. Very nice for bosses and extremely tanky as well (1h+shield).
Hm I love my Duelist - fast attacks (dual wielding) combined with Blood Magic and life leechings/gains equipments are just so fun ("Free" skill)

But I'm still on the normal difficulty (Act 3)
Leather and Steel, and other Armour/Evasion nodes, are inferior to pure Evasion or Armour nodes when using Iron Reflexes. This is because only the evasion part of the hybrid nodes are considered by the skill.

IR + Armour or Evasion nodes > IR + Armour/Evasion hybrid nodes
I need more purple titles
