Are Shavronne's Wrappings, Soul Taker and Aegis Aurora overcentralizing?

What I mean by this is that there are not many (that's different from 'zero') builds that will be better off without these items, assuming you are going to be using a shield and an armour (BoR and 2h builds obviously won't use them).
The reason for this is pain attunement for spells and low life blood rage for attacks (and to add to the pain crown of eyes can make pain attunement work for attacks as well). The low life bonus of certain items are also pretty good. If you want to give feedback please don't do something like this: " I know there are builds that don't use these items and I know that they are viable. All I am saying is that there are simply not enough shield builds that are specifically better off without Aegis Aurora, in fact I can only think of one (RF Rise of the Phoenix). Shavronne's provides a similar problem but on a much larger scale as it is a body armour. Beyond league.

I think the "chaos damage does not penetrate shields" affix is squandered on a piece of gear that is as rare and powerful as Shavs.
It would be nice if there were an amulet or ring that had the same affix but worse stats and/or a downside or two. Then any non-CI ES-based build wouldn't have to go through this phase of "can't start maps until I hit the jackpot and get a shavs" IGN: Ikimashouka, Tsukiyattekudasai, DontCallMeMrFroyo

" any shav build should be able to farm maps when they spec into CI ofc it is not as effective as low life shavs, but its easy to archive and possible |

well i see many eaqle viable builds not wielding thoes mentioned items, a small note thoe i wud love to see it possible to use aspects of lowlife other then shavarons.

Agreed with Shav's.
The "Chaos damage does not bypass energy shield" mod should be available on either a more common (less expensive) item (even if with a drawback, such as "X% less energy shield"), or as a keystone on the passive tree (with similar penalty). And this comes from someone who has played with shav's. Many lewt.
Much desync. Such rewarding. Wow. According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew? |

I agree with Aegis. I think there are quite a few builds that can do better with an insane rare over soultaker, and I don't see the big deal about Shav's without a ton of other extremely great uniques. I have a legacy one, but it only seemed amazing to me with the old RF. Now it seems kind of meh unless doing a Crown of Eyes/BloodRage build to me, but I haven't really looked into it that much.

" Agree entirely. I have a legacy shav, and it's very good in the context you mention (Crown +BR), but I'd trade it for a BiS (or nearish) ES chest any day of the week. Shav is a cool build enable, but BiS? No way. Same for Soultaker in my view. I've no experience using Aegis, so I won't comment. Petrov. |

" Thanks for signing your name at the end. I would have had no idea who wrote that without it. |

Shavronne's is a problem because you sacrifice little to gain whatever you would lose from a high tier rare. By that, I mean you run Discipline and Purity on your Health to make up for lost ES and Resists AND then you gain "low health" benefits from other items. It's almost a no-brainer.
Soul Taker is a problem because its essentially what I like to call an "infinite resource multiplier." You basically gain infinite mana for the purpose of attacking. In PoE, you no longer have to worry about an entire resource pool (essentially gaining a weapon slot.) Icing on the cake is that that resource pool can now be used to buff stats via Auras. If you buffed its stats back up past what they were before it's nerf but also made it remove a player's mana pool, it might've been a better option. Aegis just does too much. It does a thing, then provides stats that help it do that thing, such as high block, armor, and energy shield. An item should provide a benefit, but really rely on other items to make that benefit better. |

Shavronne's and Aegis require building around them. There are many more builds without than with, and not just because they are expensive (and not just the item itself, they are only fully effective with lots of other gear too). Both require sacrificing a LOT of your primary stat (ES/AR/EV), if not other stuff too.
Soul Taker is certainly strong and better than many rares, but it's far from BiS. Especially the non-legacy version (which is after all what any changes would be affecting). I remember even trying a perfect damaage (140/25) non-legacy one instead of a 3ex claw on one build and did not gain much if any dps. IGN: Victario
