" Is this correct as they only give an Orb of Augumention and that only seems to be worth about 0.25 Alts whereas the rare yellow item in the flush would on average be worth around 9 Alts? This currency business isn't easy to grasp - I have had to make a spreadsheet for it! |

Only recipe worth doing is chaos recipe. I made around 100 chaos today from it.
how can you make 100 chaos with recipe ? You need full set ... it must be not easy to get, no ? |

Oops!
When I said an identified rare was worth 9 alts I got confused between alt shards and actual alts. However the straight flush still seems bad value as 0.9 alts is sill better than 0.25... |

If you're really proficient at the game then getting to Merciless and farming something is going to be faster than any of the recipes up to that point.
On the other hand, whilst you're still new, getting as much currency as possible is useful within reason. In early levels when I was new I picked up every blue and sold for transmute shards, then used the transmutes to buy R-G-B items to sell for Chromatics. Chromes seem to be the most in-demand low-tier currency (or maybe because I'm always looking for it?). At some point picking up blues becomes silly because you're moving too fast. Only at that point would I think about saving rares for any recipe, and the Chaos recipe requires iLev 60+ items, so there can be quite a few levels where it's just about selling off the rares. It's faster and that is important. Faster means you'll be higher level sooner, and making more bank accordingly. You should see what people leave behind on the Merciless Ledge in public parties! The hardest things to spot when moving fast are quality flasks and R-G-B items because they're usually whites, but if you're moving slowly those are just as useful as poor rares. I tried the saving quality items for scraps/stones for a few early levels and it's not a problem, it's just a hassle. If you hit an early wall being really new to the game, why not? Otherwise forget it. |

Thanks again for all your answers and I feel I have a pretty good feel now for what to pick up.
Biomirth you really helped putting recipes into the bigger perspective thanks. |

The rare 2-stat armulet recipe is quite useful, too.
