Vendor Recipes NOT worth it?
I am a new player having played for two days now and have reached L24 and a little like a magpie enjoy picking up loot. On recommendation in another post I am using this very handy web addon called PoE Helper that works out what recipes I can make.
Having used the microtransactions thing to buy 6 extra stash tabs (I did this partly to support the game) I have a reasonable amount of space to store stuff until I can make the recipes. So my question is... ...are some of the recipes NOT worth it for examaple quality items of armour or weapons adding up to 40% for armour scraps or blacksmith whetstones seem like they might fall into this category? I also wonder about the straight flush recipe being practical because doesn't that mean I will have to start collecting normal items as well? At the moment I pick up all yellow, blue and superior whites. |

Quality gear recipe isn't very useful, scraps are common and cheap. Straight flush recipe is worthwhile, however, and you don't need to collect whites to do it, just pick rares that have a base item you can buy in stores.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Thanks for the answers so Vendor Recipes NOT worth it for the newer player would include so far
1. Quality gear recipes |

I think it would be way faster listing those which are worth doing, the rest is either not worth it or just 'meh'.
- Gemcutter prism (you can save quality aura gems or others with crap quality bonus for this) - 6 slots and RGB linked (not really a recipe) - 5xchance orb (arguable, some like chancing and this one gets rid of all your crowns of thorns) - alch orb - chaos orb - 5 rare items (only good for jewelry, belts or such) - 20% quality gem (very useful, both for using and for selling) - map upgrade Probably not much else. To add onto the above there are several recipes to re-mode rare items. These used in conjuction with chance recipe and consistently chancing the right items can be a great way to find more rares of a specific item.

You can use the Armourers and Whetstone scraps to help with the Alchemy recipe. That one is when you have a white, magic and rare item of the same base type and they all have 20% quality. If you sell them you can get 1-2 Alchemy orbs depending on whether or not they're identified. That is how I upgraded my gear, by turning linked whites into rares until i got something better. You can also use them to make current gear just a little better.
The way I do it is, if i find a rare that has high quality and I know I'm not going to use it; it becomes part of the Alchemy recipe. That way i don't have to add as many orbs to finish the recipe. For example, I find a pair of evasion gloves with 10% but I'm using pure armor. I could identify the gloves and get a few shards or I could include it in the recipe and after awhile get 2 Alcs out of it, but I only have to add 10 scraps as opposed to 20. Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?

Last time I checked, the going rate for scraps/whetstones was a chaos per stack.
