Free player restrictions, there need to be a few.

Firstly, chat. To prevent the constant recreation of spambots everywhere. You could allow chat in a party on a timer, private messaging on a short timer. Lobby area, longest timer.

Secondly, any clan system, at least the creation or leadership of one, if there are such features in PoE (waiting for open beta, sorry), or if there ever will be.

Thirdly, Trade. Free players should not be able to trade or transfer in any way.

Mail. I read this was being implemented at some point. For the same reason as chat, should be restricted to paying players.

I realize you want only cosmetics, but you need to protect the playerbase that is going to support you, and you need to keep the game from being ruined with spambots and 3rd party pay2win. Obviously along with this you need a way for players to flag another player for spamming (if not implemented).

I think ten dollars isn't too much to ask to get these features, give them the 100 points, then it's still free as it comes along with the points.

Will never happen. GGG is big on F2P.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
Chat filters don't even work in a f2p game. The spambots could just login dozens of accounts at once if they need to get around timers/filters.
I'm not even going to have global/trade chat on, the spam will be crazy enough with just players, nevermind spambots. I'm mostly concerned about having a dozen different spambot accounts whispering me and constantly making new accounts to get around any /ignore that people use (or account bans).
Your other suggestions are much to restrictive for free players.

One dedicated marauderator with the Banhammer skill socketed should be able to handle that, providing he has Faster Attacks support.

You really think a moderator can keep up with a team of thousands of clientless spambots?

Make open available at level 10 or something? that could help eliminate a lot of spam bots
I feel the restrictions you propose are a bit too restrictive. While it would hinder spam bots and item sellers it would be too detrimental to new players who are probably feeling the game out because it is free to play. Any fee to unlock features in a f2p game would hinder more than help in my opinion.

It's a slippery slope wanting the make the game open and inviting to new people while hindering unwanted spammers. I still feel it is better to allow everyone access then remove it from people who violate policies.

You're pretty full of yourself, aren't you? Funny though - that you want to supress "your" crowd. Joined yesterday, non supporter...

I say impose this on just him.

PS - removing trade from an ARPG , what a good first impression people would get ...
GGG - Why you no?

that's easy new players first would resourt to just dropping items on the floor instance to trade with friends, then ask why we are playing the game where there is no respect and just leave to any other game. Buying anything from cash shop like chest bars or cosmetics just wouldn't happen, they just wouldn't stay long enough to care.
i think this is a troll post.

ggg has said they have secret methods to stop bots.

it would be easy enough if 3rd party sites go up to just pose as a buyer and delete all their items even go as far as deleting items that people have paid for to discourage the buying of items.

i think ggg will make buying items nearly as illegal as selling them (hopefully)
i mean third party sites need some sort of solid character to actually sell the items so all thats left is malicious spambotting spamming swears or something and you dont even see that in diablo 2. i mean you would think theres a point where the money to gain is less than the minutes it takes to check your bank account.

(personally i dont think blizzard has even tried to stop botting who knows maybe half those soj for sale were spawned by bliz employees)
