GGG doing us a massive favor! They are treating what would otherwise be a family-shattering disease!

So I just read http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/692842 and it suddenly hit me: GGG is actually doing us a favor? By keeping massive RNG variance in their game and refusing to hand out the probabilities, they allow potential family-shattering gamblers to really face their gambling addiction here instead of gambling away their life savings in the real life.
It is so much better to let the gamblers get their "fix" through a virtual game that is unlikely to ruin their real economy, than to wait for them to eventually lose insane sums in real life. Heck, the gamblers may even get bored with gambling after gambling a lot here. Which essentially means that GGG preemptively cured a future family-shattering gambler. Finally, I see the light. I see now why GGG did what they did with the RNG system and why they refuse to hand out accurate information about the probabilities. It was for the good of those with the gambling disease. maybe its true, heck I fed the PoE slot machine a few times and its definitely put me off. But I never liked gambling.
for me it was kinda like gambling but at the end if I actually "won" it was so bad I wish I never started. also could be seen as a Gateway to gambling much like dope being a gateway to crystal meth? :p I mean the PoE crafting system will be many kids first taste of gambling. maybe they play on the addictive aspects of gambling to keep people playing? |
