Why do rappers laugh for no reason?

I cannot be the only one who noticed this. Rappers, in the middle of their rapping will sometimes say "Ha Ha". Wtf is up with that? It's not even a real laugh, it's more like their "Ha Ha" is a statement, or an some kind of demented inside joke. They certainly don't say "Ha Ha" because something is funny, because their laughter is not prefaced by a joke.
I have developed some hypotheses relating to this unusual laughter: 1.) They thought of something funny and abruptly interrupted their rapping with a short "Ha Ha", then continued with their rapping. Maybe they have a very short amount of studio time and cannot restart the rapping just because of the small mistake. But, then again, rappers are generally very rich so surely they can buy some more studio time. Maybe they are often thinking about funny things and laughing to themselves and the song that makes it into the album is the one in which they laughed awkwardly to themselves the fewest amount of times. Considering that all or most rappers do it, I suspect that this spontaneous laughter is an ailment uniquely affecting only rappers. 2.) They are laughing because they realize that they are talentless and are perplexed by their own predicament to such an extent that it elicits laughter. The predicament I'm referring to is the one in which they are getting paid lots of money for singing and people are buying their CDs (purchases which are rarely, if ever, precipitated by threats or other forms of duress). I've always assumed it's to lighten up the lyrics, which often tries to be project a hard man image. Kind of like a way to say "I'm kinda joking here, somewhat, maybe".
