What are the pros/cons of dual weilding?

Currently thinking about making a dual weilder on release with high hp, life leech, and hits fast. I really don't know much about how dual wielding works with skills, so I'm here to ask you guys. What are the pros and cons of dual wielders? How does dual wielding work with skill gems? What are they good at? What flaws do they have? Are they limited in the skills they can use?

well you have lower block than with a shield. But you still have block which can be increased plenty.

Shields have other properties than weapons thus you get different stats on the items. IE lower armor or ES or whatever shield you would have prefered instead.

You have faster attack speed when using dual wield.

Most effective skill: dual strike and cleave
Those are the only skills that I can think of that use both weapons in its attack. (maybe leap slam, dont know if it uses both weapons for the attack)
You can of course use other skills that are effective in it self but they wont be using both of your weapons, like flicker strike.
