[1.2.4] 11 Aura Low Life Support Culler - Steroids Edition Revamp

Hi all. I made a spreadsheet comparing the differences between 1.2.4 and 1.3 passive tree for this build.




I used this tree as a comparison.

Looks like an across the board nerf to all defenses, a significant hit to % ES and % defense and % evasion. However, the build is probably still viable even despite these changes. As was mentioned before, the loss in mana reserved decrease means we have to drop at least 1 aura. I think I will be dropping Anger.

I'm 86 on torment with this build right now, dropped determination and hatred which leaves me with 93 life reserved (lvl 19 reduced mana gems, 1 reduced mana in prism guardian). It's enough to spam a curse and use divination distillate. Wrath and anger on generosity do more to up group DPS in most cases as people who benefit from hatred typically already run it. I dropped determination for anger because the only reason to spec blood magic is to provide more auras that benefit the group, otherwise we would use flame totem, zealots oath and no offensive auras besides haste. Anger is just better for a full group than determination for the most part.

quick question..how do you possibly run divination distillate on a build like this with 0 mana and such low health margin?? thanks!
I'd love to see this build get fully updated for 1.3 by the author. Nothing against that other aura/culler build, if I have to cobble something together from that one plus this one and the two 1.3 trees posted above, I'll be putting it to use, but I'd rather follow the advice of someone who didn't have 300 exalts worth of gear and gems in mind when he wrote it up; I'll count myself lucky when I finally manage to 5L the 6S Solaris Lorica I bought.

Upcoming changes from Closed Beta Act 4

* Buff Effect bonuses have been removed from the passive tree.

This effects the following skills which are removed:
* Inner Force
* Devotion

We'll have to wait and see what effect this has on our ES.

there seems to be another change with the flametotem but they are not sure on it affecting incinerate yet(and im not one of the lucky ones with a beta key :( )

For people who don't know, basically LMP / GMP don't work on Flame Totem anymore due to the shotgun changes.

one way its good as you have another gem to choose from but if incinerate has the same change as flametotem you need to lvl the gem to get more projectiles..

they are seem to have nerfed the damage on flametotem(again not sure it will be the same on incinerate) but this should not affect this build as we just need to tag the mobs for culling.

Thanks! I try. Real-Life keeps having other plans it seems, especially for this last year, but I want to keep pls's thread alive since he has given so much to the community -- his initial thread was a huge inspiration to me -- so it has a soft spot for me.

I took some time off for surgery last year and been distracted with Starcraft 2 this last little while but PoE is the "fall-back" game so to speak. I wasn't able to sustain my map pool which was the main reason I took a break last year before 1.3 but I have a guild mate that has been doing dailies and we've been doing maps again. I recently dinged 76 optimizing the combinations of the aura build. But I digress.

Getting this back on topic, here are the aura builds I've tried over the past year+.

* Flame Totem with Added Chaos Damage
* Pls original build: Aura's + MF culling
* 10 Auras with aura snapshotting
* 9 auras with Raise Zombie, Raise Skeletons, Raise Spectre
* Switched over to Blood Magic
* Spec'd out of of minions adding curses
* Removed Iron Skin
* Removed MF + culling for huge ES
* Taken Whispers of Doom

Recently I've actually switched away from MF culling and moved to more to pure ES defense + 10 auras + 2 curses. Especially when you can cast your curses for 0 mana. ;-)

I'm not in the closed beta either, but yeah, things are still in a state of flux. It is too early to tell if flame totem was nerfed or buffed.

The old Flame Totem setup was:

* Flame Totem + Greater Multiple Projectiles + Faster Projectiles + Faster Casting + Fire Penetration + Item Rarity

With GMP no longer being needed a good slot filler would be either:

* Empower or
* Added Chaos Damage

Once things settle down we'll be able to determine which is the better choice:

* Flame Totem
* Incinerate + Spell Totem

I heard that Anger now effects spells (sorry, don't have a reference handy) so that is something else to consider in the mix if it will buff our fire totems.

Just a heads up that Patch 1.4 potentially might break this build.
