over 425 hours played, found 4 exalts

This isn't so much a QQ thread, just an honest look at the crafting system. I really do enjoy this game, a lot obviously or I wouldn't have invested 425+ hours into it. But why is the crafting system so impossible for 99% of people to accomplish? In Anarchy I found all 4 of my exalts, all during a play through with a different character before I killed Piety. I thought this was a pretty good drop rate, as I expected to be able to earn exalts faster when I started mapping. Not the case though, as apparently that was just really really good RNG. So far in Dom I've leveled a templar to 81, currently doing 71 maps, a shadow to 66 currently doing 66 maps, and a witch to 37, and I haven't had a single exalt drop, forget about eternals. I'm not saying I haven't been able to find or alch decent gear, but given the fact that each eternal/exalt on an item has a very low chance of being successful, and I have yet to find either of those orbs, is that a good system? How many hours do I have to play to successfully craft 1 piece of godly gear? I've tried selling on forums and had some success when the league was new to get chaos, but that really is kind of boring to me and should you have to spend hours on poexyz to be able to craft?

it certainly was good RNG. i've played probably twice as much as that since OB started with 5 characters 70+ and i have found 3; and ofc 0 eternals. how they expect me to play in maps and gear up without spending 90% of my time trading is beyond me.
4ex? I would say that your lucky. lol

I have found more bringer of rain helmets in the last few months than exalted orbs LOL

How do you find these bringer of rains haha? Maybe I will have better luck with uniques when I get higher up in the maps. But still, I have an average of 1 exalt per 106.25 hours. If I played an average of 2 hours every single day (some days 0 some days 4 ect) It would take me 52 days for 1 exalt. If it takes 2ce as long to find an eternal, and assuming that I also find at least 1 exalt for every eternal that's 104 days. I don't know on average how many eternal/exalts it takes to craft GG gear, probably more than 20, so that would be more than 2080 days, or 5.7 years to craft something. So that's never going to happen for me lol, not with the current system.
So every 100 hours you have a very good chance of adding 3.4 life regenerated per second to your magic or rare item. Or +6 to Accuracy rating, if you're lucky.
What sucks about this game is that u can play countless hours of it and have nothing to show for it. If that's the cast why bother.
Endgame crafting is only for big merchants and RMTers. Working as intended.

Also, PoE is the only game I know that after playing for a few days you can have less experience and less currency then when you started.
Any game where dying implies a xp loss can have the "less experience" part.
Any game where crafting = gambling can have the "less currency" part.

Although you can give currency to people to join some runs and everyone rips => most game can potentially have the "less currency" part as well.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
