It would have to be a whole damn lot better for it to be worth leveling as a spell caster in that level range. For zero point investment, any number of physical attack builds work MILES better, with better survivability and damage until much later in the game, allowing you to pick entirely defensive nodes until such a point that you are not at risk of early death.

For low level caster uniques to fill a niche, they first need to fix the low level discrepancy of spells vs. attacks.

fastest way to level a witch/shadow/scion/spellcaster/whatever:

get a shiversting (130dps@lvl14, immunity to freeze, freeze/chill opponents all rolled into one)(1alch cost in domination), use ST till you can use lmp. Add lmp to ST. at lvl 27 switch to geofri's (200dps, 180pdps, stun everything in your path, cost 1c) and also add "added fire damage" since you are mostly pdps now.

at lvl 50-60 you may want to actually start using the skills that you actually put passives for.

FTFY.

This item simply provides other options as a low-level unique with mods that appear to make the early life of a "pure" caster a little bit easier. I doubt it was intended to be BiS for lvl 74 maps with amazing clear speeds.

So much hate for giving people choices.

it is not hate for giving choices.

and yes it is boring, ST is trivializing content to an extreme degree. but doing 420-1050 dps on lvl 16 as i was doing with just 1 as node and 2 projectile nodes is at minimum broken.

i trully wish for a great caster leveling item to appear, but in order to do so it would have to push the spell dps to ~500 that you get by using ANY of the numerous weapon uniques for low levels, and that is not doable with the way spells are configured atm (damage caped by your level due to gem being capped by your level and items providing almost 0 dps)

Keep the item as it is and add:
"adds 30-100 lighting damage to spells"

and it will be a great item for leveling p.e.

i dont plan to go to geofri's way either since i dont own one. i will switch to ungil/mightflay at lvl 35 though for the extreme survivability of 10loh+35%block +still better dps than spells without any nodes for attacks whatsoever

First of all, this is a necro. I know, it's almost 2 yeas but I just wanna know (don't hate me >_<).

The unique stat says "Regenerate x life over 1 second for each spell you cast". The phrase "for each spell you cast" implies this is a stacking buff. If I can manage to cast 5x in 1 sec do I regenerate 5x life over 1 sec?
You could have just started a new thread :)

Anyway, it used to work like pre-2.0 leech, meaning if you use two wands you will get double amount of life over one second, but it's still one buff and it could only overlap duration with itself, no stacking. And it was one buff per spell use, not per cast, so no multiple triggers on tendrils or echoed spells.

Dunno if it actually used leech mechanic or not, and I don't have one in stash anymore to test, probably still works the same but you never know..
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

trash uniq anyways
IDK people said dual-wielding Lifesprigs can last you up to normal malachai. I was able to pick up a Reverberating Rod and its pretty good as well.

It's used for leveling your lowbie toons because they can clear twice as fast as trash white/blue/yellows that drop. It's trash for your level 100 yes, but treasure for your level 1. -_-
