Cast Spell on Movement

This is a support gem that activates linked spells through moving. The chance depends on the distance you moved and a fixed percentage chance.

Example: You have a 10% chance to trigger the linked spell for every 1feet you have moved.

The percentage chance increases by level. Quality on gem should give you movementspeed. There is one rule: The spell can only be triggered when enemies are close to you (in skill range). Otherwise it would make your eyes bleed when your skills get activated all the time even if there are no enemies.

I suggest this skill because it is based on movement speed. Also skills like whirling blades or leap slam count as movement, therefore this skill is pretty awesome with movement skills+attack speed+movement speed.

No ! Thanks for the feedback, but seriously no :).
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.

This is coming straight from the heart <3

It might be better if it triggered automatically after moving a certain distance, kind of like "Cast When Damage Taken" procs after a certain damage.

That's exactly what I suggested. I combined distance+probability. Example: After moving 1feet, you have a chance of 10% to trigger the linked skill. Otherwise this skill would be insanly op if it had a 100% trigger after moving a small distance. ^^
That would only work if it weren't offensive.

If the skill is offensive, people could stack movement speed and run circles to trigger skills without ever getting hit.

Is that what you planned?

No no no, that's literally taking any bit of skill out of the game by saying you want to run around while triggers kill everything for you.

I think this gem has potential with the appropriate restrictions.

Here's my take on how this Support Gem could work out:

Cast on Distance Traveled
"
This gem can only Support Skill Gems of level x or lower
x% less Damage
You cannot Cast Supported Spells directly
Only Supports targetless Spells
100% chance to Cast Supported Spells when you travel a total of x Distance

Keywords: Support, Spell, AoE, Buff

Logic

1 - Cast On Movement sounds like something that may occur anytime you move, regardless of distance.
This is somewhat what you (OP) suggested, but let me tell you why it is a bad idea.
1.1 - it will create a frustrating gameplay where the lucky can proc it all the time and the unlucky only proc it when the chances reach really high from moving a large distance.
1.2 - the random nature of the proc removes ANY potential player merit/skill that might be associated to your movement. It makes you just move randomly for the sole purpose of avoiding damage, while the trigger gem procs at unpredictable times.

2 - It makes more sense to work like Cast On Damage Taken - always (and only) triggers after you <Event> X <Measure>.
In this case, Event = Travel; Measure = Distance.
Thus, I also changed the name to "Cast On Distance Traveled".

3 - "Only Supports targetless Spells" Logic:
"Cast On Damage Taken" targets the source of the damage.
"Cast When Stunned" targets the stunner.
There is no "source" in this case, and it's not acceptable to simply allow you to run circles and cast targeted/aimed spells while avoiding damage.
So "Cast On Distance Traveled" should not work with target/aim-requiring spells (spells that are cast in/at the direction/location of your cursor).

This means it would work with spells like Ice Nova, Shock Nova, Detonate Dead/Raise Zombie (random nearby corpse), self-buff spells, etc;
but would NOT work with Curses or spells like Fireball, Spark, Arc, Incinerate, etc.

4 - I particularly like the idea of counting movement from abilities like Lightning Warp, Whirling Blades, Cyclone, Flicker Strike and Leap Slam.

I'm not sure how much "skill" the game takes to begin with, but abilities like cylone already allow movement while doing AOE damage, even more if you use trigger support gems of any kind that automatically target. The point is that this gem wouldn't hurt the game in the way that you're worried about.

I think it's a good idea. However, it will be a challenge again to make it not mandatory with Enduring Cry and Molten Shell, etc.
