Is currency flipping scamming?

Eh, not really. It's normally about convenience. For example, on Standard Exalts can be bought for 20 chaos or 35~40 fuses. Chaos's trade consistently for 2 fuses. I've bought a few exalts for 35 fuses, sold them for 20 chaos, and then bought 40 fuses for the chaos. Its also easier to move the Chaos's if your asking for the equivalent in alts/jewellers/fuses.

Its by no means a scam, simply how patient people are to liquidate/exchange their currencies. I spend a little time hitting Ctrl-V while mapping and end up with 5 extra fuses after awhile.

I will have to try that then. It seems like a very easy and consistent way of generating currency without doing any actual game play.

Part of the reason I made this thread is i constantly see people in TC trading 1 chaos for 20 alts (when the ratio at best is 16) and 1 chaos for 8 chance(even though 1 regret is > 1 chaos).

All items in PoE have variable values, even those items you can trade directly with vendors. Since the act of trading them with the vendor costs time, which can cause the ratio when trading with a player to be different.

You can not make a case a player would trade alterations to jewelers at any ratio other than 2:1 to a vendor simply because of the the time investment(which is still much less than trading with a player 3:1).

There are indeed absolutes:
4 aug = 1 alteration
2 alterations = 1 jeweler
4 jeweler = 1 fusing

If someone wants to sell me 500 fusings. I am going to give them a better rate than if they want to give me 4000 alterations. I don't want to sit there and click my mouse 1000s of times to convert them.

See though thats the problem. The new Bandit respec's have raised the price on regrets, creating a similar situation to the Exalt situation where you can easily get 20 chaos but are hard pressed to get more than 35 fuses. Supply and demand basically, where exalts and chaos's are more saved for currencies, but regrets/fusings are CONSTANTLY being used in crafting/respeccing. That is what makes Chaos and Exalts fluctuate so much imo, and creates a situation for a patient person to profit due to people being hasty about offloading them for regrets and fusings.

Some people may still be stuck on the belief that chances/scourings/regrets are based on the old ratios as well.

That makes sense. Regrets always skyrocket when a large balance patch hits (1.0))

I will try selling my chaos for 8 chance orbs and then selling those to an exalt for easy profit.

No, seriously. Let it. You're right, they're wrong.

If this is true, then post the most common currency flips that enrich these so-called scumbags and rip off the uninformed. If it's accurate you'll ruin the fun for them and bring "justice" to the masses.

The reality is that hardly anyone is getting ripped off big time. Maybe you can make some peanuts here and there getting a level 40 naive guy to sell you 4 chisels for a chaos and then sell them 3:1, but if you think you're going to fill your stash tabs with ex doing that or just about any other currency flipping, you're wasting your time.

It's more of an "oh I ripped them off" that is the fun, rather than an actual worthwhile method of acquire currency.
