What's the resistance hard cap?

This is using RF both for aoe damage and to massively buff my spells. Currently it gives 69% final spell damage (times 1.3 from Inner Force!).

The setup is:
75 max fire resist normally
+5 from the passive Elemental Adaptation
+5 from Saffell's Frame unique shield
+2 from a high level Purity aura
= 87 fire resist.

Now Ruby Flasks give 10 max resist, but again, Inner Force increases that by 30% so I get 13 max fire resist instead. And of course, 13+87 = 100 fire resist, and now the fact that I'm burning for 30% more damage doesn't mean anything at all.

Happy hunting. :)

Righteous Fire build.
The Purity Aura actually gives 4% at the highest levels. If Inner Force does work on the flask.. then the max for any Elemental Resist, not just Fire, is 102%. It should be capped at 99% in my opinion.

lol I wonder if that actually makes fire dmg HEAL you... that would be hilarious

fire dmg deal to you = (fire damage) - (fire dmg * fire resistance/100)
-> (800) - (800 * 102/100) -> (800) - (800 * 1.02) -> (800) - (816) = -16
dmg done to you = (hp - fire damage) -> (your hp) - -16 = (your hp) + 16

Purity is 4
Flask is 10
Ele Adapt is 5

With Inner force, that total comes to 23% to max alone, saffels pushes that up 5%, for a total of 28% to max, meaning 103% Resist all

3% of fire damage heals the user (loljk)

gg
100% is the hardca you need to be immun against chaos for example so i think its 100% for the ele resists too ;P

The elements are my allies.
The dead are my servants.
And fear...will be my closest friend.

What is it as of now? 99%?
I have 102% max resist (not permanent of course) without any aura/flask nodes, so my guess would be that you can go over 105%.

Take example the flask nodes, 3x10% of a ruby flask = 13% max resist. Or it's not working that way, no idea, flask nodes and aura nodes are too far from my reach on the tree.

Why is it important/good to have over 100% resist? - maximum resistances on the map.

Flask nodes indeed improve max res gained. I took those and elemental adaptation, and got 90% res under flask effects.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
There is no hardcap, you can go over 100% (I guess this was actually what you were asking)
No longer a forum dweller, please use PM for contact purposes.
and divination distillate flask gives + 6% maximum elemental resistances so you can get 108%

DID you try in the game to see if you take no dmg / heal?

It shows over 100% now because it shows overstacked res, not actual max res

No one really knows yet, and answered the question properly, I already know the screen can display a 100000% res if it could

You just take 0 Damage.
