The spam is the most annoying part of trade chat for me. There should be a post timer of at least 1 minute.

The trading in Run,Escape! was so much worse.
In fact, the chat filters were so bad that you literally could not make coherent sentences (or even fragments) most of the time. (:

I used to join and check for a minute or two before - mainly for currency exchanges. Nowadays I dont even bother for that minute or two. Too many people spamming their wares (and some of course will spam the same thing thrice in a row, others link everything from their grandma's knickers to the kitchen sink, etc) - and chat scrolls too fast.
A chat timer for ANY trade chat window of a minute would help this I think (not one minute per channel , then people will just change channels from 1 to 120 or so and spam :P) |

And what does the chat have to do with peoples expectations of what items are worth ?
I for one think the chat system is very effective considering it's simplicity, you have all the basic functions that you'd expect and over time they'll keep improving it and adding features. Sure you can say the trade chat is a spam fest but that has more to do with the way players advertise their goods. This sort of aggressive marketing is prevalent in almost every aspect of our daily lives so I highly doubt it will ever go away. No matter what limitations GGG will implement, people will still find ways to spam but your average buyer/seller will be deterred by this. In any case you could've used a better phrasing in the title, I think. | |
