Any reason not to create hardcore characters?

Even as default is a comparable way to test 'your' build - HC is the only valid way to prove it. ^^ (even for the fact you can 'prove' you did not die in default too)

This is the first game I've played that I feel is built for hardcore. It's a shame that a lot of people don't ever give hardcore a shot. It's probably pretty rare that anyone ever goes back to softcore after they give hardcore a try, and for good reason!
Default is going to be absolutely flooded with gear (assuming people that die in hardcore don't just delete that character and gear) in no time at all, which really kills trading in my opinion. IGN: Kleev

I tried HC.Didn't do anything for me.I do however like PvP and short term thrill stuff, probably why I enjoyed Realm of the mad god(plus ROTMG rewards you for surviving with a class unlock).Anyway SC isn't completely devoid of thrill if you set yourself challenges to not die.Sometimes I do this sometimes I don't bother. Why do I play, mainly for the sandbox aspect which POE is strong in so why play it for a reason other than one that appeals to you most,HC play would feel distracting from my main enjoyment of it.

" The banner next to your character in the character select screen looks epic as well. Also, does your HC stash go into default as well when you die? I just started a HC character yesterday. |

No. Stashes are tied to the league. If you wish to get items from HC to SC just create a new HC character, equip from stash in inventory and go die, it gets transferred.

" Ah, I see thanks for the tip. |

" That's one reason why I prefer playing Hardcore, because the league's economy is much more fulfilling and feels more balanced. I know some people complain about Hardcore being Over Priced, but I disagree. Hardcore is the right price, and default is cheap. Last edited by govaguy#3609 on Jan 10, 2013, 8:49:04 PM

Here's one thing; if you don't have the ability to take a big let down, don't play HC. Even with your character still "alive" that character now has the word "failure" proverbially tacked onto his name, which is prolly why alot of people just reroll at that point.
The game's mood is dark, and everything about it screams HC. I was supprised when my character came back after his first death because everything about the mood told me something really bad should have happened right then (I started in SC) and it was actaully kinda a letdown to see no harm done... not that I WANTED him gone, but I expected... something, you know? We are never so offensive as when we are being defensive. (-me?) Last edited by Grollip#6356 on Jan 10, 2013, 9:16:35 PM
