Which laptop is better?
Okay, my dad has another laptop that I can use, but there is an issue I'm noticing. The one I have is a 17" mid 2009 Macbook Pro (running bootcamp) that can run this game at 480p at 60 fps at minimum settings (I adjust the resolution in the .ini files). It has a 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and an Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT. The other laptop he has is a 15" 2011 Macbook Pro. This one does not have the dedicated card, however. It only has the integrated chip, an Intel HD 3000. However, it does have a 2.4Ghz Intel Core i7. Should I keep using the laptop I have or switch to the one with the better processor? I have heard this game is more CPU intensive anyway. Would I see a performance boost even though I am losing out on the dedicated graphics card?

laptops for gaming? what.
The only game you need to win at is on the internet.

I can't always use my desktop for a few reasons, so I have a laptop to play PoE and League of Legends when I have time. It's a simple question. Which of the two would be better for this game?

better not since you would be running them under constant load and high temperatures, which would reduce their lifespan.
Especially macbooks are harder to alternatively cool, due to limited vent ports. Made to break those things under continued loading. If you want a laptop to game get a gaming laptop or a mobile workstation with a good graphics card. Only devices made in these format for sustained loading. Also I would advice on extra cooling (like at least a stand to keep vent clear). It helps the cooling of your laptop. Fan needs to work less hard etc etc, not to the degree that you can overclock, but if you want to use the machine for 2 to 3 years it is a smart thing to do. I pretty much only use my laptop to play games when I don't have access to my desktop, which is usually during short breaks from school like Thanksgiving and when my roommate is sleeping (he's an early bird). I've been using my current one for over two years and it hasn't fried, so I think I'm doing fine. I wouldn't overclock or anything stupid like that. But my question still hasn't been answered. Is this game more CPU or GPU intensive? Also, which would be better, an i7 with no dedicated GPU or an intel core 2 duo with a dedicated 9600 GT graphics chip?

Why not just play D2 on the laptop?

I honestly prefer Path of Exile. I went on Diablo II yesterday and just cannot get into it without a group. I don't have a group to play with.

Well I suggest getting the one that performs better and at better temperatures, but only you can figure that out. I suggest HW monitor.
