TURN OFF MY CHAT (I'm going crazy with whispers)
I've had do not disturb on for an hour.
Path of exile is a single player game for this passed hour. This isn't a solution, it's a bandaid. I don't even know if my friends list has messaged me asking for help which I've probably seemed rude and ignored them outright. IGN: Narbays

So to remove whispers from rmt sellers i got to exile myself fom the community with dnd? Sounds like a good solution. How about ggg take a 5min brainstorm on how to remove rmt sellers? Max whispers pr min is my contribution, max accounts online from 1 location is another. When I think about it consider this my application for position as problemsolver @ GGG

Good job boye! 5 mins and you've figured it all out! Just a quick question, how many max whispers per minute? If it's 10 or so, I often talk to my friends in more whispers. If it's 30-ish, then I don't see how it would help me, getting messages from bots every 2 seconds.
Max accounts online from 1 location? GOOD IDEA. As we all know, everyone in the world has moved to ipv6, and NATs no longer exist. As we also know, it is absolutely impossible for bots to circumvent this, by, for example, themselves using ipv6 and having practically unlimited "locations". I can't wait for GGG to implement these great suggestions and can't for the life of me imagine why they don't just take 5 minutes out of making microtransactions to fix their game. *sigh* I don't mean this as a personal insult to you boye, but it doesn't help anyone to simply say "wow, those lazy GGG, such a simple fix and they haven't done anything!". In fact, they are doing something, and they could keep adding more and more ways to limit the activities of bots in the future. Let's not pretend dealing with bots and spam is some trivial matter, though. Among the good suggestions that one can get out of this thread, being able to whitelist(e.g. dnd-except-friends and so on) whispers is something I think they should implement. Spoiler
" No insult taken :), ijust love the game and hate the rmt. And im not nerd enough to know about the technical stuff u do, by whispers i was thinking like 200 pr minute out, as im guessing tey use a few bots to whisper many but hey, the /private wasnt dumb either, exept when u trading and stuff. | |
Another thing GGG could add along with whitelisting friends is whitelisting people you've whispered first. This still doesn't fix the woes of traders though. Perhaps if the community brainstorms a way to trade that wouldn't be flooded by spammers, we could actually help GGG in combating the problem.

They seem to save your name fairly temporarily. I can see a very big spike on the amount of spam after I advertise something in trade chat, but after ignoring the accounts whispering me, it gets silent until I go spam my ad again.
If I just log in with chats turned down, I don't really get any spam from RMT sites. |

" They get it from the chat. Quiet all day Saturday except friend chat. Posted one thing in trade chat.....Spammed non-stop the rest of the night from RMT. |

" Damn dude they should total hire you. I'm sure with the five minutes you've spent considering this that you've covered all the possibilities and there could be no possible thing wrong. Too bad GGG is too lazy to bother paying you for these fantastic ideas! |
