My trapper is 60+ now and since I haven't ripped just yet I was thinking of replacing my lightning trap 4L w/ a CWDT 4L, but with the recent nerfs I really wasn't sure what combo would be good for a trapper. Looking for thoughts/opinions! Personally I thought enduring cry/molten shell/enfeeble would be a pretty good combo.

Trapper is pretty decent geared, nowhere near GG geared, but I am 3.5k life w/ 75% all resists w/o purity or any resist auras.

Thanks for your input!!

Trapper right? Lay trap, run away, lay trap run away? If so, CWDT may not be a good idea - would probably trigger very infrequently. Might be better served with skele brotem or something more actively cast.

*unless there's a melee component in your build you didnt mention.

No, don't really need to go into melee, but rares do require the occasional hit or two if cold snap doesn't freeze, but for high maps later on getting hit does happen I am just trying to think of a defensive composition that could help alleviate some pressure. The spells don't need a high up time or anything, but just like a last resort I guess. Even getting cwdt leveled up to where I take ~900-1200 dmg and then the spells go off wouldn't be bad. Obviously don't need them to have 100% up time to be effective.

Thinking of cwdt as more of a passive last resort type method to help save my life on a big rng hit that "could" happen at a later date when I run maps.

Alternatively keep Lightning trap because its a good skill.

Light trap + multi trap + chain + culling
How does Spell Totem + Summon Skeletons fare versus Decoy Totem? Is one better the the other?

Still using Cwdt with EC+MS+Enf.

All I've done is leveled Cwdt to lvl 4, converted my lvl 20 gems from pre-nerf to 20%, using them at lvl 7. 20% Molten Shell synergizes well with

lol.

Haven't tried Decoy Totem or higher levels of cwdt yet. Been working well enough for 78 maps and such duoing.

Playing LA with IR US and 6,2K life.
CODT, enduring cry, critical weakness, rejuvy totem.

absolutely amazing gem.

i haven't tried a trapper build myself (but intend to sometime), though i imagine the playstyle similar to sporker: Stay as far away from damage as much as possible. i've pretty much taken CWDT out from all my non-melee builds. i think you'd get much more out of a 4L skele brotem then a CWDT slot. A carefully placed one can keep bosses busy for the lifetime of the totem, even if the skeles are getting one-shotted.

If you still want to give CWDT a spin, and since your purpose for it is defensive, i'd recommend decoy totem and a curse (tempchains/enfeeble). Maybe EC for 4th link, though it won't do much if the only enemy around is a solitary boss.
