Hey Chris,

I've got a state-of-the-art (for 2005...) business laptop, a Dell Latitude D610 single-core 1.6GHz Pentium M with the ~P.O.S.~ Intel GMA900 915GM/910GML Chipset and 2GB RAM. This whopping monster of the graphics card world offers the following awe-inspiring performance:

* Pixel Shader 2.0 support and 4 (Count 'em!) Pixel Shaders

* Vertex Shader 2.0 support (in software only, via DirectX)

* No Hardware TnL (software only - Meh)

* 128mb Ram (Woohoo!)

---

It runs games like Torchlight (Jason Beck, Jerich and Brixtan say 'hi', BTW ;) ) well enough in low settings (1024 x 768, low particle/shadows, no anti-aliasing).

It won't exactly beat Usain Bolt in the 100m sprint, though - unless I'm also hitching a ride in a Lamborghini.

=> Is there any way my future-proof laptop will run PoE on low settings, or are folks like us going to be S.O.L.? Note that some things can be emulated via 3DAnalyze or SwiftShader if using a client or executable.

Was hoping to run this thing until it dies, but will upgrade sooner if I have to for this.

=> Any truth to the nasty rumor that PoE may run with Shader Support 3.0+ only?

(If you need a guinea pig to test a lower-end system, let me know.)

----

Thanks for considering supporting us closet business gamers, too!

P.S. I want to hear from the developers on this, not random forum members, please. No need to tell me my then-$1500+ business laptop is not currently a gaming colossus, thx. :|

Are there any plans to include this type of 'scaling' to the graphics options? i.e. So if people have the gfx power they can run 'full' grass and polygon goodness, and those of us with laptops can dial it back.

I would definitely like to see that. PoE only uses about 60% of my gpu at max settings. I would like to see it use the other 40%. Better shadows, better lighting, better fog and water effects, more particle effects, DX11 features, etc.

I have a laptop with a core2duo 2.00ghz 4gigs of ram and a GMA4500MHD graphics and the game wont run. There are so many graphical problems when I try to play I don't know what to say.I waited so long to play this game and now I cant. I hope intel dies.
Yeah... GMA chipset aren't really designed for video games :-/
It's more a multimedia chipset to watch video.
