Feeling Underpowered
The character started out great, but I seem to be hitting a wall. I'm currently level 30 in act 3 and it feels like things are going really slow. I'm not talking about leveling, just the kill speed. I'm currently running Infernal Blow with a melee splash support, but keeping mana up for that is a chore. I just feel like the character isn't making headway, and I'm having trouble figuring out what's wrong.
Is it the build/character type? Or am I geared wrong? I still don't know enough about this game to make a proper assessment. I'm also not sure if I can link my character sheet to these forums, but you can see him under my account. Part of me wants to just get him through normal and then possibly reroll something else? But what? Or is it that I'm giving up on my Templar too early? Current Build Last edited by Breidr#0511 on Nov 19, 2013, 10:49:01 PM

Unless I'm missing something, we can't actually see your gear and passive tree through the profile page.
You can, however, post it for us~ If you go under "Game" up the top of the website and go to the Passive Tree, you can recreate what yours is and post the link to us. You can also Shift+Click items equipped to your character to paste them to the forum post~ |

Updated! Thanks for the help. I had no idea I could do that.

" Here is a list of the most common reasons for builds having trouble, usually in this order: 1. Life. You need more life/energy shield. You can have high armor and evasion, but low life/energy shield will still be hit hard. 2. Defenses. Your armor and/or evasion are too low. Take your "Estimated Physical Damage Reduction" and "Chance to Evade" and add them. If they do not come out to at least 40%, you are very, very low on defenses. You should aim for at least 70% for both combined. 3. Recovery. You can take hits but cannot restore life/mana quickly enough. Not being able to restore life/mana in at least a moderate amount of time can make you weak. Low recovery makes you especially weak to regeneration mods on mobs and enemies with energy shield. 4. Damage. You don't do enough damage quickly enough, making your life, armor, and recovery useless. The only time damage doesn't matter is when you can stand in the middle of a mob and take hits all day without having to pop a potion or run. If you have to run, you should bolster your damage considerably. I would look these over in this order. Starting Cruel, you should have at least 1k combined life. By end Cruel, you should have no less than 2.5k. Mid Merciless should be no less than 3-3.5k, and late merciless you should have no less than 4k. As to damage, make sure you can take quite a few hits and then worry about damage. EDIT: I just looked at your updated OP with your gear. You are HEAVILY undergeared for level 30. Your Passive Tree looks okay, I can't know for sure since I'm not an expert, but you've got some damage, some stats and you've got some life.
It's looking like your problem is with your gear~ |

Some of your gear are blue.
I know rares do not a good character make, but you could try alching/buying some if you can afford it. Looking at your skill tree, it seems your highly speced for survivability. If you're gonna continue using axes, you can grab that "Fell the Weak" node right next to you, together with the "Axe Damage and Armor" passives trailing from there to increase both your dps and your survivability.
