Failed Creating Direct3D Device Objects

Game worked fine until after current patch update.
Go to run PoE get:
"Failed Creating Direct3D Device Objects" then
"DXUT CreateDevice failed"

All drivers are up to date.
Running
Windows 8
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz
8.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks
Try running the Client.exe directly from the PoE folder.
Unfortunately no luck, the same error.
Do you have DirectX 9 installed?
Rhys has suggested deleting "My Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/production_config.ini" in order to have it try to detect it again or something. You'll lose your settings of course.

Still no luck. Thank you though.

I have directx 11 installed, i have not check for 9, but was running before patch. Do you need to install 9 and 11?
What adapter shows in Production_config.ini?
Yes you need also DX9
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

Installing Directx 9 now. If that is the issue how come it worked pre-patch i wonder.
There should be some files in a Redist folder in your Path of Exile directory. Running the Direct X here should be all you need to do, if it is indeed Direct X causing the problem.
Balance & Design
Solution:

- If you have an Nvidia graphics card, then thats your problem--> Nvidia uses program-specific use of the card, so when PoE launches, it automatically selects your CPU to run graphics, which can't. Adding the "Client.exe" to your programs list and force it to open with Nvidia still won't work. What you need to do is go to Global Settings tab (in your Nvidia Control Panel/Manage 3D Settings) and select Nvidia graphics card as the default processor for all tasks. This worked for me.
