evasion?

Can evasion reach 100% and evade all attacks I just want to know because I made a skill build based on evasion.
Don't think u can dodge 100% In POE. Would be pretty game breaking ;) however I'm sure u can prob dodge 50%+
Evasion goes up to 95%. With the Acrobatics keystone you can get a 2nd, separate 20% to dodge as well.
Playing a dual-wielding swordsman of some kind.

The second dodge goes up to 30%. Also, i'm not sure how realistic a 95% evasion rating dodge is :P
Above 40% it starts getting increasingly expensive and difficult to achieve. However, the 'magic' number for evasion is 51%. If you have 51% against the mobs you'll be fighting, you only get hit by every other attack at best. This is because the algorithm used is a strange perversion of probability math, only truly explainable by a dev, but that is how it works in game. Evasion may sound chance based, and may actually be chance based over the long haul, but short runs of bad luck are artificially prevented by the hand of god... err dev :)

Another neat thing about being around the 51% point, is that you'll have vastly better, though probably still not capped, evasion with the Dodge Arrows keystone against pesky sniping archers.

As for Acrobatics, in all honesty I'd rather get sufficient evasion to hit the 51% mark against my hardest opponents and grab the Arrow Dodging Keystone. Then spend the rest of the points allocated for defense on more life.

Caveat though: I'm not all that certain that you might not be better off forgetting evasion and going the IR route and stacking armor, endurance charges, and granite flasks. Big difference is that evasion works to mitigate (by getting missed not by damage reduction) against everything except spells. While armor only resists physical damage, though physical damage is by far the most common type. The main argument I'd make for evasion over armor would be chaos damage.

Final warning, I'm not an expert, just an amateur that's spent the last couple months playing way too many different builds! Consult your local expert before taking irretrievable action!

I'd argue the consensus right now is that armor alone isn't useful in the least past 5k-6k (which negates your basic low-hit mobs) unless you can get 50k, Evasion alone (and a Duelist will have a hard time getting to A/PA without gimping himself) doesn't work well enough for you to survive, and on both counts - You still need boatloads of life to survive boss hits from KO shots.

As a Duelist, Getting 51% Evasion and/or 5k Armor is harder than, lets say, a ranger or shadow for evasion, or armor for a marauder.

That's why right now people grab IR - Easier to get that 5k mark and grab life on the way. Endurance charges are also around the Duelist tree, so that works together.

I'd love for someone to prove me wrong with a truly hybrid Duelist build that works, but i haven't seen one yet.

I'm working on it but it's failing for other reasons. Goal is 20-30% DR (4-6k armor) and 40% eva (not too hard to get just from grace/L&S/dex) then take arrow dodging to hopefully make it so I barely ever get touched by arrows.

I wanted to do it 2h sword but I'm think it might have to be a sword and board toon for the extra armor or eva, whatever I'm lacking.

Maybe I'll redo my first duelist, LS S&B and use my theories on diamond flasks and hybrid defensives. Problem is finding gear for it in alpha (also I really want to do an ele bow build with the death harp mouze gave me, shadow ofc lol)

Yeah, But i think you would need a lot of L&S nodes, maybe both circles, and even then some more eva/armor nodes. If that's the case, what kinda damage will you be left with?

Which is why the build is failing. With all the gear I use being self found, I can't really cheat and buy godly gear to make up for pitfalls I'm running into.

I have the build at 40-50 atm in alpha but all of my gear blows so it's become really hard to progress. Monsta has two rapiers better than my 2h sword (want to say it's 140 top 1.1 aps =/)

Trying to run a dual wield dualist with avoidance/armour has me about ready to walk away from this title, if it were live I would have already dumped it. As this was my first char I got as far as pyramid and can proceed no further due to being constantly one shot despite now grinding an extra 8 levels over the content. Sorry but this is not fun in any way shape or form, there are any number of titles available where I do not have to waste my time simply to run into a brick wall.

To see if it was the class, me, or a combination of the above I rolled a witch, ffs, ranged has so much more survivability its taking the piss I ended quitting in disgust, my initial interest in the game has now all but evaporated as a result.

Looking for inspiration I turned to watch some of the streamers to get an idea how others may be playing the game, see if there is something I am missing, have misunderstood etc. What do I see, every streamer even "melee" classes resort to ranged attacks of one sort or another, or leap slam/leech. This just leaves a whole swathe of abilities you would expect to use as a melee largely ignored and in my book that means its a broken game.
