wow... oos is useless it just shows you WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW. you should alway KNOW when you CAN desynch and IF you are actually deynched and what is the REAL position of your character while you are desynched. Learn it. Then it's no problem at all to deal with it. And forget about oos ... group play is impossible if you use that shit.

or maybe instead of players knowing when they are going to desync... maybe GGG can fix desync instead? that kind of seems like the better plan here

A recent change (bug?) to the way the chat window works broke my oos macro - and I haven't bothered to fix it. For me, desync has gradually improved over the last 6 months to the point I have no need of an oos macro. I'm not even scared of Rhoas any more!

Holding shift when attacking seems to almost completely negate (dangerous levels of) desync for most builds. I'll admit, I don't have a cyclone char, but I do have a leap slammer and they're fine with it. Another who uses flicker as a backup has no more desync than usual when they use it. It certainly surprised me to see Spectral Throw pointed out as another desync-magnet.

Occasionally a Rhoa will still jump position or a skeleton mage will be immortal - my reaction is to ignore it and play on. Typing oos for a quick fix actually seems to make it more likely to reoccur.

The big exception to this is Brutus/Kole. His desync stands out enough from everything else they should add a flashy graphic to his resyncing and call it a unique boss skill. But oos doesn't really do anything to help with him anyway.

I'm sure GGG would like to improve it, but there are a lot of things they'd like to improve and I'd assumed the reason non-brutus-or-whirlwind desync is so much better is because they figured out how to reduce it 99% of the time and it's only the fringe cases they're struggling with.

TLDR: SHIFT stops more desync than OOS, desync seems better for me, Kole sucks.
Necroing a thread from last month because this one has a lot of posts and I wanted to add my two cents.

I quit the game about a month or 2 ago because of *drumroll* desync. I like playing melee reaver type characters. IE characters that survive by fighting and leeching life. Now of course you can already tell why I am having desync problems. Using abilities like Flickers Strike, Whirling Blades, and Cyclone is a prime cause of desyncing.

I promise you that desync WILL be the death of this game. Most people that claim to not have desync problems are probably playing ranged characters and don't understand how bad it is as melee and being warped around, missing mobs constantly when you have Resolute Technique, knowing for a fact that if you are unlucky enough to be fighting around a doorway or an object that you will be desynced. This is a serious detraction from the game. Having to strategize around a technical issue is NOT FUN. A lot of melee abilities are simply unusable and that just doesn't make sense.

I quit because I decided to give Hardcore a try because I wasn't having too many issues with desync on Standard, but it only takes ONE desync to kill your character.

Since it seems this problem will never be fixed, I have to ask why doesn't GGG just add an offline single-player option? I would, of course, prefer to play online with no desync but I could live without it if I can actually play the game the way I want to. I have bought some cash shop items so I feel like I'm on sturdy ground by bringing this up. Not that people that haven't can't voice their opinions, though.
They should really add offline single player for people that wanna have fun as melee, or fix this damned thing. :|

Something like "lobby" where you enter in SP campaign, and then straight from it you can enter online hubs and servers via that board in town if you wish to play online...

I don't think you should be able to go online with your single player character because you could hack it. But I'm glad there are others who feel the same way about this issue.
I don't think this games difficulty should be completely made up by desync. Seems wrong to me, but fan boys will be fan boys I guess.
