Just play it and let him watch, should be enough.

Best advice so far. Play it in front of him, show him you enjoy it, and he will succumb.

Its more of a clone of diablo 2, and somewhat of d1, but it also brings some new elements, now while poe doesnt have the detail and depth as of d3 it does have some good gameplay mechanics.

D3 has detail and depth?

It's about the most shallow video game i've ever played, much less aRPG or Diablo game.

Yes it has alot of elements that make it fun and with depth all the events the achievments, and to be honest i enjoy poe but its so much easierto level here on poethen it is on d3, and the graphics are very detailed on d3 infact the extra element of destructble stuff gives it that more enjoyble enhancment.

Quest Rewards > Achievements

Highest PoE Character Level 86 > Paragon100 on D3 after a month

PoE Graphics - Dark, Gritty, Extremely detailed and sharp > Soft, Pastel, Rainbow, WoW Graphics

Light Radius and Pitch Black Dungeons > Destructible Objects(Which will come in PoE at some point anyways)

Also, the things you highlighted don't really make D3 a deep game. It has some decent eye candy, but it's still the most shallow aRPG... Ever.

I don't think the devs ever hid the fact that they were fans of ARPG's, diablo being on of them. To call this a copy though is not giving them credit for what in my opinion is the first game in the genre since D2 to take the next step in gameplay as well as depth.

Not entirely sure if this is enough. At least it wasn't for me. I had been hearing about this game for a month or so from another friend of mine, but I didn't really pick it up because I hadn't yet realized just how much more depth and variety it has in its mechanics than what D3 has, and ignorantly didn't want to just quit my progress on D3. If you can get his attention for about 15min, let him watch Kripps introduction to the game here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgs47cnlp78. It's what swooned me over to quit D3 instantly.

And I don't think it's fair to call PoE a Diablo clone, when PoE is so fundamentally branched out of what Diablos did. PoE is like an animal, evolved over such a long time from its predecessor D2, that they couldn't produce offspring anymore :P.

Diablo 3 was a total ripoff
path of Exile is as close as you can get to Diablo 2 which was at the height of epicness and still is
DEN SOM TAR... HAN HAR
I have Diablo 3 and i was disappointed. I think that PoE really is better than D3 ( i had PoE beta account but sadly i traded it for Dota 2. Which was a big mistake xD ) and i think that it really has a chance against D3
Really man? It's NOTHING like Diablo 3, (Diablo 3 is great game) but the game is very similar to Diablo 2.
