Trade chat needs cooldown timer

I dont think im alone when i say that its really annoying when people spam the same thing in trade chat 3-6 times in a row super fast just to take up as much space as possible. Not only is it annoying but its rude and unfair to everyone else in the trade chat. I get it, you want to make yourself seen, but the entire trade chat has turned into a cesspool because of this. The picture covers about two seconds of chat, its really hard to even look at items because the chat keeps flowing.

I think GGG should introduce some kind of a cooldown of maybe 5 seconds per chat post. Nothing major, nothing too small. But just enough to end this senseless spam that just worsens the whole trading experience.

You are not alone.

I think there should be a 1 min cooldown and a queue. You can have tradechat on, and every 3-5 seconds or so a new message pops up as the old one fades, so you can leisurely examine the offers instead of having to scroll up when and if you ever see something interesting.

Would also be nice if you couldn't post more than 7 or 8 items or there were some kind of character limit...who isn't sick of the dumbass with 20 rares that no one would want for free, for 20 chaos a piece spam.

So, you could post your trade, and it might take a minute or two to pop up. Big deal. Post on forums if you have a lot of junk you want to pawn. I mostly like tradechat for the currency exchanges, gem/rare/unique shopping is so much easier on poe.xyz.
Yeah, that is damn annoying, and most people turn off trade chat because of this.
I already told about that, and will repeat again and again, until GGG staff finally manages to type /trade 1 and see what their precious trade chat turned into.

The problem is that a lot of traders are selfish and ignorant. They believe, that crazy spam will help them to sell their useless overpriced stuff. They also probably use bots to spam messages easily.

How to fix that? Obviously, those bastards wont change anything, and banning them would take too much efforts. But GGG can implement spam filter for chat. It will block any similar messages, sent over certain amount of time (2-5 minutes). It is very simple to implement, but it will be very efficient even without any heuristics. GGG, please, do that, it's so simple and so usable!

Also, made a special noticeboard for those who want to trade. ATM, people create lots of perties for certain deals (e.g. WTS Exalted orbs for 22 chaos orbs each). If you implement noticeboard, where each player will be able to put several messages, that will save them from spamming into trade chat.

This is going to far.

The one thing you need to consider here is that bots have unlimited accounts, and humans don't. Therefore, for a bot, there is no cooldown timer. Ever. They'll just spawn more free accounts if necessary.

I think a short cooldown — to prevent double-spams like those posted in the OP — is actually a good idea. Something along the lines of 5 seconds. However, once you go past a certain point it's just giving botters an advantage over legitimate players.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

You wont. People, who spam in trade chat, usually will reply on your messages (otherwise spam is useless and isnt worth any efforts put into it). Having several instances of game running simultaneously and replying on them is really a pain in ass, and most sane players wont do that.
As for botters who PM you - well, there is an ignore list for that, GGG just should make it MUCH bigger, and implement a function of periodic removal of inexistent characters from ban list
5-second cooldown is far too short and wont hurt spammers much. 1 min+ timer is required.

Or a system to vote people in the trade chat, allowing people to downvote spammers => this would increase their posting timer in the trade channel.
Trading huge messages with caps and scores everywhere are also a pain in the a**, I would like to see a lower characters limitation ( not items, only characters ) for that.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
Also pay 1 wisdom to put a message + 1 wisdom for each item linked (count only in trade chat).
