Arc Lightning + FCS + Chain build Templar or Witch brainstorming

Working on brainstorming an Arc centric caster using faster cast speed, chain, lighting penetration and lightning damage support gems. Obviously this will increase the mana cost of Arc significantly.

Core abilities I plan on using will be...


Arc + Chain + Added Lightning Damage + Lightning Penetration + Faster Casting

Clarity

Discipline

Haste

Lightning Warp

Conductivity

Tempest Shield

& possibly Ice Nova + one other skill not sure which yet though.

I'm considering using either Chaos Inoculation or Eldritch Battery, or perhaps neither and using both life & energy shield.

Here are the two builds I've come up so far. (I know I've spent all 111 points, I'm aware it will take at least 4+ months to get level 100, this will be the character I play upon release and have no issue investing this much time)

I'm most likely going to use a Templar for the final build, but that may change depending on how amazing of a build I can come up with using a Witch.

Would love some feedback and thought / opinions.

I don't think you will be able to use Clarity, Haste, and tempest shield. Thats far too much mana reservation. I have never used Eldritch Battery before but maybe if you utilize that keystone you can fit more auras than I am thinking??

I plan on trying an arc build eventually but it will more than likely be a witch.

I've seen some pretty crazy builds already that use as many as 8 auras at once and with large mana regen they do fine even spamming spells non-stop.

I may drop the Haste aura as its supposedly not very good and incurs quite a large mana cost on spells.

Kripp has a character that uses 6 - 8 depending on what he wants. At minimum he has 6 up at a time.

With elderitch battery (and inner force) you can upwards of up to 2000 mana (or even way, way more than this). However, % reserved auras are going to chew into most of that. You can combat this with % reserved passives and reduced mana cost support, and it's possible to run 6 - 8 auras at once, but let me try to persuade you - tempest shield is not worth it.

Tempest shield is only good when it has added lightning damage, elemental proliferation and increased critical chance on it. Those supports modify the % reservation cost of the skill, making it take 70% of your mana or so. If you don't support tempest shield with those supports, it's very lack luster!

Haste is okay. If you're running a lightning build, I would say, elderitch battery isn't a bad idea. But limit yourself to haste, discipline, grace and purity. I don't think you need any other auras than that if you're a lightning caster.

Have you ever considered curses? I use spark fairly well in cruel now and use conduit on any blue or yellow mobs, They melt. I will be getting the passive to use 2 curses

I don´t think Arc + Chain will work.
According to their descriptions Chain requires a projectile and Arc is no projectile spell.
I haven´t checked this but it probably won´t hurt if you investigate it before you spend hours building your character.

Arc has the chaining property on it specifically because it is the only non-projectile that currently works with chain.
