Dual strike vs Double strike
If i'm dw. Which is better?
So double strike only work with your main hand weapon, what if I put my better weapon on main hand. Does it mean it will get double of my better weapon? So will it give more damage compare to Dual Strike? Does it make it better than dual strike in term of hit on effect like Life Leech. For example I only have LL on my main hand. And with Double strike i will get double the effect instead of one with Dual strike. Please explain this for me. Thanks Strange, Ages did not change this Place

Dual strike will usually do strictly more damage.
Double strike can cause more on-hit effects, though, such as stuns/life on hit/status effects. The status effects thing is huge. 2 shocks per crit, a slightly longer (duration of a single swing longer) freeze effect, etc. --
I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. |

" What do you mean 2 shocks per crit ? My understanding of Double Strike is that it's 2 completely different hits. So if the first one hit, the second one can miss. This should also mean that if the first crits, the second could be a non-crit (or a miss). And vice versa. No ? The "2 completely separated hits" was confirmed by Mark in this thread : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/13700/page/10 Shadow : Covenant Pulser (504561) Ranger : 12 charges Frenzy Archer (65154), Dual Claws Elemental ST (709126) Witch : Self-Cast Arc Tanky Witch (770185), AoF EK/Bear trap (863970) Templar : Frenzy + AB/Fireball "Cast on Crit" Wander (611200) Marauder : Death Oath Staff User (498864) Last edited by Velkor#2803 on Dec 12, 2012, 4:09:03 PM

DS gives an inherently higher chance of landing an on-hit effect simply because you hit more. Pity there's so few of them.

" Dual Strike. They're designed to have essentially no overlap, and in practice that's true. With two weapons that are on-par, Dual Strike gets you more damage. With Double Strike, there's very little reason to use an off-hand weapon at all. Also; the two attacks from Double Strike do have the same Crit chance roll, since that is rolled per skill activation regardless. |

" I don't understand the critchance-thing concerning doublestrike. are there two different chances to crit because of two hits or just one critchance because of the skill ? Last edited by Vindun#1338 on Mar 8, 2013, 7:26:03 AM

" No, if the first strike crits, so will the second. Last edited by Catacrom#3132 on Mar 8, 2013, 7:26:43 AM

Neither, just use cleave and only cleave.

Dual strike since it doesn't suffer from 70% damage effectiveness as of Double Strike.
Zeldoon is right, right now, Cleave is pretty much better to use usually - it really comes down to the Patch this wednesday, if it can make Dual strike builds worthwhile. ign KlearSpeed
