Descriptions are very exact. If the description says X, X happens and it's not suddenly also bound by Y. %Increased Physical Damage will increase Damage dealt, as long as it's Physical.

Say you have a weapon with base 50-100 physical damage, and it does +100% increased physical damage. Of course that would give the weapon a damage of 100-200.
But say you also have a node that adds 30% increased physical damage. Is that 30% added to the weapon damage (giving 130-260 damage) or only to base damage (giving a final 115-230)? And how about the gem that increases physical damage? |

All increases add up, after taking 30% increased you have 130% increased damage, as simple as that.
And multipliers multiply everything, that melee gem is in fact '% more melee physical damage', so 30% more will really give you 30% more final damage (physical, of course). Keep in mind there's only one node on passive tree that says just 'increased physical damage' and works on all physical damage, attacks, spells and skills that are neither, all other nodes specify. You got some more modifiers like that on sash belt and certain uniques but it's very rare. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Thank you.
So if I have an item that add more physical damage (like 5-10 extra) then that would also be increased by the physical on the weapon? And if you have a weapon with a lot of increased physical damage, then that would sort of devalue nodes with increased physical damage (as they will add less relatively), but will increase the value of nodes with increased attack speed? EDIT: And we agree that there are of course MANY nodes with increased physical damage (although they may be linked to using certain types of weapons) Last edited by sikker#5501 on Nov 6, 2013, 7:55:17 AM

a weapon with a lot of increased physical damage
crit as dmg is local(multi for weapon itself) for weapons you can read dmg of weapon at the top RIP English :D GMT +4 Last edited by ugrolol#7289 on Nov 6, 2013, 8:44:21 AM

" Nope, it's like this base weapon type damage * (quality + increased damage mod on a weapon) + any flat physical damage it has And that's what the weapon info says when you mouseover it, that's your base weapon damage for further calculations, you can say weapon mods are multiplicative and they don't devalue increases on your character. Well, those on your char already devalue themselves, the more 'increased' you got the less you gain with each new node so it's not good to overdo it. *** Additional info: Interestingly enough, quality on armor multiplies with increased armor on item, doesn't just add like on weapons, not really that big of a difference but it's funny. Thanks for all the answers.
It seems like you are contradicting the earlier response though. Are you saying that Increased Physical Damage (IPD) from nodes DO in fact add to the total from the weapon? So that in the above example I made, where base damage is 50-100, and with 100% IDP, damage becomes 100-200, and with the 30% node it DOES become 130-260? Also, if (IPD) on weapon does not add to physical damage on other items, then nodes that say 'IDP on axes,' (or has some other condition), also does NOT increase IDP coming from these other items (as they are not axes even if you are using an axe as well)? EDIT: Isn't there a place somewhere where this is described in detail? I couldn't find anything on the wiki (which is why I asked here) Last edited by sikker#5501 on Nov 6, 2013, 11:00:57 AM
