Cast when damage taken - Molten Shell

Hey,

So this dropped for me last night in the Library. I am using it but dont understand the leveling part.

When it started out, it was damage is less 70%, and casts when 440 damage is taken.

I leveled it up every time like other gems and dont like the stats. Huh? Now its damage is less by 42% and casts when 980 damage is taken.

Please explain?? The higher that damage number goes, the less my attached gem will proc. I want more procs! Not less.

1 guy in my XP Run party actually told me NOT to level it.

if you are using it only for defensives you dont want to level it (molten shell enduring cry etc)

if you are using it for damage then you want to level it

If you want more procs, you don't level it. If you want more damage, you level it.

You can scour it (sell it to vendor along with a scour to get a lower level one).

The purpose is also to be able to have multiple cast when damage taken gems so they trigger at different times (for example, cwdt level 1 with an enduring cry gem linked vs a cwdt level 10 with an immortal cry linked -> this would let you trigger enduring cry multiple times before triggering the immortal call).

I'm surprised they didn't make the level 20 gem trigger the most frequently.

I am using it for molten shell.

Now, how does that work? With molten? Because it seems that the CWDT will also pop up molten BEFORE it gets a chance to gather damage and explode. So its more of a constant shield?

Again, it all depends on how you set up the sockets.

If you link it to a level 1 gem, you'll probably not take enough damage to get it to explode before it refreshes.

I have it linked to a level 9 gem along side Immortal Call and Extended Duration. Since the damage Immortal Call nullifies counts toward Molten Shell, I have no problem detonating it.
