Blood Drinker and Converted Physical Damage

Hi.

The passive node "Blood Drinker" grants "2% of Physical Attack Damage Leech back as Life". Now, if I use an ability like Lightning Strike, that converts a portion of my physical damage into elemental damage, does the life leech effect only work on the remaining physical portion or all of the damage I'm dealing?

I believe it's only the physical that remains after the conversion. So of all elemental = no leech

Separately, the Life Leech support gem works for all types of damage, not just physical (or physical from attacks).

Life Leech - works with everything
Physical Damage - This specifies only physical damage - attacks, or some spells like Ethereal Knives. Non-elemental, non-chaos damage.
Attacks - Only works with weapon-based skills
Spells - Only works with spell-skills

So "Physical Damage by Attacks" so Lightning Strike works with it, but you're actually cutting down the lifeleech by 50% because 50% of your physical damage is coverted away.

The "life leech" support gem works on anything, because there are no other modifies to its effect.

So, at the moment I'm working on a Duelist that uses 2H and Lightning Strike. I was planning to go for bloodmagic. In that particular case, what would you think: Should I or should I not pick up the Blood Drinker node?
