stay away from the alchemy vendor recipe

One of the more depressing aspects of this game is the sheer volume of economically nonviable vendor recipes. Now some are only barely passable but one is so unbelievably bad you would legally be foolish in using it

So if you dont want to literally throw you wealth away , stay the fuck away from this bullshit vendor recipes.

the alchemy recipe

basically in fundamental levels the recipe values these items as follows

alchemy = regret
regret = 2 scour
scour = 4 chance

ill get this out of the way, the alchemy is the least valuable rare currency, you try trading it to people and they will first laugh in your face and then demand regrets or chaos orbs.

it is barely worth one scour which is half a regret. and a regret is basically a chaos

so using the alchemy recipe will reduce your wealth invested by a testicle crushing 50% stay the fuck away from that recipe.

chance orbs are pretty valuable so if you do waste them , make sure you stop at either regret or scouring.

I use the alch recipe to make gear for my chars as I lvl.
Find three of the same item and use whetstone or scraps to get to 20% and basically get a cheap alch of an item.
I normally try and find bits with quality anyway to save on orbs.

I don't see the problem with it? Or would I should stay away.

No one uses that recipe.

In the game's player to player economy, yes its a bad vendor recipe. But many people don't trade, because trading kind of really sucks and wastes time. The vendor recipe is good for easy conversion to things that you need.

Also, if you think vendors aren't fair... its not new info. Give a vendor a fusing and he'll give you a jeweler. Want a fusing? You have to pay 4 jewelers.... Vendors are the most cut-throat traders that exist :P

I have to be nitpicky, just so that we're all on the same page:

I don't think that's technically a "Vendor Recipe" - That's more Vendor Price or Vendor Purchase than vendor recipe.

For example, the Recipe that Nutramax was referring to is:

1 alchemy = normal, magic, rare (all 20% quality) items of the same base type (e.g. Recurve Bow)
2 alchemy = normal, magic, rare (all 20% quality and unidentified)items of the same base type (e.g. Recurve Bow)

Very few players (100% Self-Found Solo/No Muling is all I can think of) benefit from the Orb of Alchemy purchase price.

However, the alchemy vendor recipe is actually a really good one.

Seriously, even if you hate trading, still stop at fusings and trade those easily for alchs. You save yourself so much. Don't trade at the vendor for alchemies, also Chance orbs are more valuable than alch / fusing / chaos.

While I think chance orbs tend to be undervalued, saying they are more valuable than those is rediculous.

IMO those whetstones and scraps come in way more valuable at higher levels when you are trying to link or socket items. I personally save all of them for that purpose, I'd never use them on low level stuff now.
Sometimes I can't help but wonder if you guys downloaded this game thinking it was an economy simulator and not a hack and slash.
hi ezra
OP, those are vendor prices. not recipes. The alch recipe is amazing btw.
