Limiting Path of Exiles Framerate - Fix planned?
|
I agree that 60 FPS shouldn't be an issue, but as a matter of fact they are at the moment. I'm going to check the fan and the thermal paste on my GPU but it is only PoE that has the overheating problem at 60 FPS, as I stated in my OP.
Sadly, the CCC only has the option to force vsync in the specified games and not limit the FPS to a set amount. Would've been too easy :/ |

xeredar, try underclocking your GPU. Might help as well.

That sounds like something that could work. But I'm a total newbie at over/underclocking. So is there something that I should keep in mind? Or something that I should look out for?
edit: I went into CCC and checked the settings for overclocking to see if I could underclock the system somehow. Interestingly the system overclocks the GPU as a default. Or at least uses something that is called "Graphics OverDrive". I disabled it and reset it to default, which reenabled it again. So I disabled it, and tested it in PoE, with the same result as I had before. Playing for about ten minutes, with the temperature reaching 95°C (at which point I exit PoE). Some more informations that might help: The problem first arose in act three. And the computer shut off automatically while I was in the gardens. Before act three and this specific zone, I didn't have any problems. That doesn't mean, that my GPU wasn't as hot as it is now, but at least it capped at around a maximum of 95°C I think, because apparently my threshold is 100°C. But as there were a few minor patches in these last days, it might also be related to any one of them. I'm really in the dark here -.- Last edited by xeredar#0914 on Nov 1, 2013, 2:17:42 AM
