How does cold to fire affect elemental equilibrium?

If your hit deals two types of elemental damage, they get +25% to both of the corresponding elemental resistances, and -50% to the other one, for five seconds or until you hit them again.

I thought that two elemental damage gave -50 to the other element and 0 to the elements used (like Soul4hdwn).
When this meachnism has been changed ?
This is correct - I failed to notice the numbers were wrong earlier.

Fire being present gives +25% fire resist and -25% cold & lightning resist.
Cold being present gives +25% cold resist and -25% fire and lightning resist.
Total lighting resist is -25% and -25% = -50%
Total fire resist is +25% and -25% = 0%
Total cold resist is +25% and -25% = 0%

Note that I have proposed a modifiers version of the skill to Carl, and we're likely to try that out, so the mechanics of this may be changing. you'll get the details of the new version if we do decide to change it, but I feel it'll make things a bit easier to understand.

Yes, monster resistances can go below zero.
Thanks for the explanation everyone!
I'll have to keep this in mind, I can see uses for this skill I hadn't considered before (say, a melee templar using this keystone and glacial hammer + cold to fire along with lightning shield... that way, not only does lightning shield deal more damage every time I block from constantly dealing fire and cold, but every time I do block I also get a boost to my next hammer hit.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, so this idea hadn't occured to me.

Interesting idea :) Though probably really worth only if you get near the keystone (IMHO there are to little benefits here if you have to travel a longer distance in the skill tree - though if its only 1 or 2 skill points it might be worth it).

I'd go for something akin to this here build. EE, Static Blows (now that'll make your Glacials powerful), +22% Block, Catalyse and the Elemental Damage nodes. You'd want a Shield with high innate Block chance; Crest of Perandus probably. Aegis Aurora could also be interesting; becomes much stronger with Armor/ES nodes though, which the build doesn't feature at 57 points used.
