I guess this is attracting the free MMO crowd more than the action RPG fans.

Let's pray that doesn't affect the development.

i dont think i have played a single free mmo game before. so i am being serious when i ask, what makes you think it is attracting that crowd more than the ARPG one?

Keyboard movement became a key feature for those over the years. But the difference is the perspective. Most MMOs go with the WoWish camera nowadays, which makes it perfectly fine to move with WAS (even better, I might say). But with an isometric camera you just CAN'T move accurately with WASD. You'd need something like an analog joypad to the job perfectly. That is what makes the mouse the best option.
ahh ok. i would say mouse is by far the best with a controller being a very distant second. the WASD controls would be horrible i imagine
Okay that might be true.I got used to using keys over time.Since it is just easier combining both keyboard and mouse.Makes me much more mobile than with just the mouse. We'll just have to see how it will turn out ingame.
He withdrew, himself wounded, and was compelled to return home inglorious, weeping - he who had once vainly hoped for the glory of a triumph.
ok - i'm a fps player and prefer asdw movement choice. i find the only reason i am dying is that i get surrounded and try to move i can't because i focus on trying to hit the monsters instead of moving. i think i'd be more apt to survive if i could seperate the movement to key strokes instead of clicking mouse. i might get used to the click and move idea but old habits are hard to kill.

I'd like support for a Razer Nostromo.. It has a small joystick which would be awesome for moving around..
more options are always welcome.
mouse movement is good IMO .
Try not to waste it .

i have always been a fan of games that gives the players full control over how they want to customize the mouse/keyboard. if i wanna change every single action i should be able to

Not necessarily. It might be more important in games heavy on dexterity and reaction, but allowing two very different control schemes is almost sure to cause small differences in the game mechanics between the two.

This can lead to tricks that can only be done with either of them, which in PvP would force players to use the "better" controls, even thought they might prefer the other one.

A slightly unrelated example comes to mind, namely Aquaria, which was designed around mouse controls, but gave options to use keyboard shortcuts. Only with keyboard, the game's difficulty was almost broken, because it was much easier to use (but less fun).
I guess I'm just programed to move with keyboards by 3D games these day. 1st 10 minutes of testing, my left hand felt lonely watching righty work double time.

As I always prefer long-range class, I kept seeing my poor witch heading into a crowd of monsters, ouch.

I can see it makes perfect sense with close combat characters, where you go, you hit.

And I don't know how long for the passive skill to increase aim will appear, need less to say, I miss alot.

Mouse only is great in this style of game. Any other way doesn't really give the same feel or polish as a control scheme.
