Help me pick a class
So im looking for a class that focuses on big numbers via crits, i want to be able to dish out HUGE crits, but i still want the gameplay to be fun, so what class/weapon does this playstyle match the most
PS in torchlight 2 i played a crit based Zerker thanks. |

Critical strikes ("hitting smart") are intelligence-aligned, so odds are you'll want one of the intelligence-aligned classes: Witch, Shadow, or Templar.
For weapons, it's a little less clear-cut in terms of attributes, but for big numbers when you crit, you'll probably either want a staff (strength/intelligence) or a rapier (pure dexterity). I mention the staff because it has an inherently higher chance to crit thanks to its partial intelligence alignment, and because it's a two-handed weapon with correspondingly massive base damage for crits to multiply. Of the classes I mentioned, this weapon tends to be associated with the Templar. I mention the rapier because it provides an inherent bonus to critical multiplier (both with spells and with attacks), and is generally a fast weapon suitable for piling gear-based elemental damage on. This weapon is usually associated more with the Ranger, but Shadows are known to wield these as well. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

Thank's for this reply, helped me quite a bit!
im not the best at making decisions so which of those is the most fast paced? |

If you play around a bit you'll find what you like. But I can imagine you liking a dagger-based Shadow. To add to Skivverus' good post, you'll find that daggers also offer inherent critical multipliers, and Shadows are fast-paced characters.

A templar with a staff will be closest to your berzerker, of the three class mentioned in the reply above. The first eight levels of experience fly by, so you should be able to play around with all three a bit and see which one feels right to you.

" templars dont look fast paced :/ my friend will be playing ranger so i was thinking about going shadow but what are the most fast paced / alot of crits weapon type to use.. |

i may be wrong with this, but I really feel like the hardest critting class is the ranger. On my ranger im only level 40 or so and my crit damage is at like 600%, I can kill an entire elite with a single crit, that is if I land a crit. For the class that crits the most, I would say a shadow, but their crits are a bit less powerful. That could all be wrong, and its just based on my experiences. Shadow is a bit harder to play, at lower levels you can't just run in and take hoards of enemies at once like you can with a maraudar, templar or a ranger. On the other hand, shadow is a bit more stealthy and has some cool skills like flicker strike. And while you can do that with other classes, its designed for a shadow class or a character who can obtain int/dex.

You are honestly going to get a ton of different answers, seeing as how your "class" is just a location in the grid. Any character can be fast paced it all just depends on how you build it, some characters are more in favor of certain things, but that does not how ever mean you can't make a wand using marauder and be effective(which someone has). So I suggest play around with the passive tree on the site, look at skills, and test some builds. Then you will get a feel for what you would like to do.

Shadow does seem like it should be up your alley.
I feel the staff templar has the highest damage numbers. Infernal blow supported by inc. physical damage, fire damage and weapon elemental damage is pretty much OHK every hit. That's without crits, though. He's also a bit slow in the beginning. :P The shadow can stack run/attack speed and crit damage pretty easily. Just make sure that you also grab CI and stack ES/EA gear to stay alive as well. CI is very good for crit builds since it removes the need of health pots. Allowing you to carry three or more crit flasks. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" Decryption Key: CI = Chaos Inoculation (50% added Energy Shield, Immune to Chaos damage, max HP becomes 1- i.e. must rely completely on energy shield) ES = Energy Shield EA = Energy Armor?? OHK = One Hit Kill (I'm assuming) A heads up, melee shadow is a tough class especially as a first time character. Hybrid classes have a steeper learning curve in general as well. I also recommend trying out a few different classes and builds to find out what you like to play. I usually like spell casters and started as a witch, but had more fun with a ground slam marauder. I've tried a bunch of other builds since then as well. There are so many things you can do with the skill/support gem and passive tree combos it boggles the mind. IGN: Friar
