D3D, Direct3D, and DXUTCreateDevice

It should be made clear the error in question is not a reflection of hardware (or drivers, or even DX) it's related to how the game is interfacing with DX -- there is little information that can be derived from it.

And who are you to tell this guy what he can do?

@ninja i would contact support with your inquiry
support@grindinggear.com

It's a reasonable recommendation. He will not be able to play with merely 2GB of system memory.

his card only supports pixel shader model 2.0. the game requires 3.0.

his hardware can't run it.

Kk fair enough, just dont like to lose new players with an abrupt ' you cant play' without a nod from the makers of the game. I am positive you know more than me but not the devs.
"Truth be told, I have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore." Stephen Hawkins
devs don't normally reply here, just support staff.

I don't want to lose new players either, but if a system can't run it, then it can't run it.

hopefully when the op gets a new system, they'll give poe another try.
If the game requires Pixel Shader Model 3.0 then that would be my problem *sigh*
Wish they would put that here

just putting 2 graphic card names doesn't really say much
Guess I won't be getting this game :/
Anyway, thanks for all the help guys

If you look up the Radeon X1950, it will be quite obvious that your card does not surpass that.

Edit: Also.. not only does it require Pixel Shader Model 3.0, but it requires FULL support for Pixel Shader Model 3.0 (which many of the early PSM 3.0 cards don't actually support).

As an example.. the X1900 says it supports PSM 3.0, but that card doesn't generally work with Path of Exile now... because the PSM 3.0 support is not complete.

Just saying it could be more detailed, like this:

anyway, doesn't matter since it has come to my attention that actual staff don't even look at these forums. lolkbye
staff come to the forums. devs don't usually come post to support however. don't get it confused.

We certainly look, and we also try to reply but Drakier usually gets to topics first (and his help is very much appreciated). Thank you for your suggestion for additional information to be added to the System Requirements, we will make sure it goes under consideration. :)
Has any exile really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
