Add Gravity type spells

Hi! I love this game! The atmosphere is awesome and the skill tree disturbs my sleep!
Why gravity? Since this is not D2, I think this game needs something extra that deviates from the normal cold, lightning and fire trio when it comes to magical attacks. Don't we all want to be able to control gravity? Specifics about gravity skills: No elemental damage, but physical damage. Some gravity skill gem ideas: Hover By pushing yourself away from the ground, you hover just above the ground. In this mode, you take quite alot less damage from melee attacks and stun time is halved, but if you are hit by a melee attack, you are knocked back. You also deal less damage with melee attacks yourself. Passive, reserved mana. Push Push enemies close to you away with the this ancient power. Use a power charge to override cooldown. Heavier foes are moved less distance. Active, AoE, physical damage, long cooldown Pull Make matter heavier on a target location to pull enemies towards it. Use a power charge to override cooldown. Heavier foes are moved less distance. Active, AoE, physical damage, long cooldown Crush Force the targeted foe to bow under its own weight. Slows, increasing damage the longer the spell is channeling. Active, channeling, physical damage Grab projectiles Take control of the enemies projectiles as they fly in the air, and direct them towards a target with increased force. Active, instantaneoulsy cast, extra physical damage Lift Hold an enemy helplessly in the air to immobilize it. Double or tripple click the spell before tageting the victim to increase mana cost and duration. Active, variable mana cost Support gem ideas: Pull Just like the active one. But without damage and only moves the affected foes a short distance. A few skills that are in the game are already gravity-ish, so they could fit under this category. E.g: Faster projectiles. ---- I know that this would be a huge choice to make, since it would cause big balance changes and so on. The game will grow with many new skills as it develops with more acts and so on, so this field is where I suggest to look for inspiration for those new gems. Ok! And add gravity type elemental damage/resist as well...
... We might need more hybrid elements as well. Physical(White) -> not elemental Fire, Cold, Lightning -> pure elements Hybrid(Yellow), Hybrid(Cyan), Hybrid(Magenta) -> duo hybrids Chaos(Rainbow) -> trio hybrid Skill gems and support gems might have changed colours. Red -> Pure STR Green -> Pure DEX Blue -> Pure INT Yellow, Cyan and Magenta -> Duo Hybrid stats gems //These gems may be used on both base stats sockets Rainbow -> Trio Hybrid stats gems //These gems may be used on any socket Stats, passive skill and classes should remain the same. ... Just brainstorming. |

Gravity spells could be absorbed by armor, since it is not a direct damage, but it's a wave, or a hit with an other objects/walls/people/animals/giant enemy crabs etc.
So essentially a spell wich deals physical damage. I like this "gravity" concept tho, really like it :D |

I'd be a fan of gravity spells forcing movement and dealing physical/chaos damage. There's no need to add in an extra elemental type especially at this stage of the game.
Spells that force significant movement in targets should probably have cooldowns in order to prevent a permanent lockdown situation. |

" Indeed. Either cooldown or a huge mana cost. I'd like to hear what you guys thought about my hover skill idea! I intended it to be the perfect mode for ranged players, since you are bumped away from melee enemies if you get hit. It could be made so it is disabled if you get stunned (not by knockback). Cooldown bypassed by power charge consume... Or pretty high mana cost.
I found gravity concepts nice and it's really no need to add another elemental damage as someone said. Most gravity spells works well for physical, chaos or even for lightning damage. Choice is up to yours. More skill gems above... Gravity Weakness - Area of effect curse. - Cursed targets are more likely to suffer from gravity spells. - Gravity effects might last longer on cursed targets. - Duration and area increases per gem level. Dragging Shot - Bow gravity attack. - Arrow damages and pull enemies on its path. - Small area of effect. - Increased pull chance per gem level. - Increased physical damage per gem level. - Synergyse with puncture for extra bleeding damage. |

Good thing I skimmed through the forums before making a new thread.
I strongly support these kind of spells and skills that deal with enemy displacement. If memory serves right, at the moment the only ones with limited displacement are shockwave totem and frost wall. Having a utility skill or spell that pulls every enemy in close range at you to eat that molten shell blast would really open up new ideas for characters, or push them back so you can get more ice spear criticals on them. | |

what you are talking about is the Type Psychic spells, which was put in Lightning category in D2
I like the idea, but i was about to make a post like urs but was maturing the ideas lol something about having the 3 basic types (fire,lightning and cold) and Arcane (poison, which is dark magic) and add to that light which would be the powerful magic against undeads and buffs and healing and also adding a Psychic category, physical spells where you get the basic telekinesis moves and also Earth spells such as: - mud slide (wave of mud) -Boulder (meteor without fire XD) - Stone Fury ( a guided golem that runs and shatters on the ennemy) - Mud trap ( trap that creates a mud whirlpool which immobilise everything in it) -Petrification ( Standard damages but instant kill when 20% life or less, then it explodes) ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it Last edited by Sexcalibure#7575 on Nov 15, 2012, 11:52:20 AM
