Curving Projectile Paths
This may not be worth it in terms of effort, but adding the mechanics to curve a projectile path sounds curious.
You could make a "decoy" totem that pulls projectiles towards it so that they don't hit you. You could make a support gem that lets your projectiles home in on a target after firing. You could make a unique item that bends projectiles slightly away from or towards you, making them easier or harder to dodge. Slower projectiles will curve more. Multiple attraction/repulsion fields can stack additively. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

This. Please.
I was thinking earlier today of how gnarly the curving projectiles are in Torchlight II and all the cool things you could do with homing projectiles in PoE. More specifically, I was thinking of a support gem that spawns homing projectiles on skill usage. Image throwing down a flame trap that, when triggered, explodes while firing a barrage of projectiles. I'm also hoping for more melee skills like lightning strike that spawn projectiles on hit. I'd really like more ways to shoot things while playing a melee character. Last edited by sinjin25#2521 on Nov 5, 2012, 2:57:39 AM

" I beg to differ. Some simple 2D physics for pushing and pulling game objects around would add a ton of interesting possibilities on top of the great ones you mention. To name just a few: - Gravity well skill (call it Singularity?) that draws things to a point crashing them together to deal physical damage (see Sacred 2's Inquisitor skill, Clustering Maelstrom). - Enemy corpses could be knocked back when hit with overkill damage, say 150% to 200% of their max life. - 2D physics coupled with a modified gory death that explodes enemies into a bloody mess when hit for 200% of their max life would really take that extra gore mod to a new level of awesome. As an added bonus gravity wells would enable a Ghostbusters build using Arc as the main attack and a combination of Cold Snap traps set on top of a Singularity remote mine. You can't tell me that isn't worth the effort. Last edited by BlastMonkey#5208 on Nov 5, 2012, 8:03:57 AM
