R.I.P Cleave you will be missed

Cleave: The dual wielding penalty for Cleave is now multiplicative and includes elemental damage.


This means in practice for physical cleavers roughly 30% less dmg. This is a gigantic nerf; cleave is no longer viable for endgame. Reave is far better if you know how to play.


As a player who both had ele and physical cleaver, I bid you farewell and thank you for the good times we had.

Not really. Shield + 1-hand phys weapon (read: soul taker) builds were op as hell. And RF low-life shavronnes was op as hell.

Physical cleavers were very strong in endgame, but Reavers were on par if not stronger XD.

I've seen some vids of Phys Cleavers faceplanting high end maps like they are early content. I have a cleaver and honestly this was probably warranted. I think Reave is actually better now.
cleave was OP as shit, nerf was expected.

The only thing changing is this dual-wield penalty, right? So weapon + shield builds won't be affected at all. Seems like those should still be usable.

There is no point in using cleave unless you are going to dual-wield it. There are other better options for 1-handers.
