Increasing skill duration

I realize that I will not be able to increase the duration of some skills I'd like to experiment with (e.g. Spark, Dominating Blow) by choosing the +buff duration nodes. Is there a way of increasing the duration of these skills without recourse to the +duration support gems? I could have sworn there was at least one node complex which would allow me to do so, but I cannot find it now. (Older patch version maybe?) Or is it just terribly far from my poor Templar?

Thank you.

Even though I've forgotten the name i know what you mean and while i don't want to disappoint you i have to say that the mechanic doesn't work the way you want it to...
Are you saying that the three "15% increased skill effect duration" nodes won't work on Spark/Dominating Blow or that they're too far away?

Faster projectiles will have a similar effect on Spark.
"Buffs" are not "skills" buff duration would improve immortal cry, but not poison arrow.

You want "skill effect duration" which is near Ranger start. You can also use the support gem "increased duration" - that effects buffs and skills.

I'm sure someone with better insight into game mechanics can explain it a lot better than i can but I'll try.

Increased skill effect duration increases, in the case of spells, the travel time of a projectile, this works with spells like Freezing Pulse which indeed create a projectile.

This increased travel time increases the range/AoE of the spell/projectile, however spells like spark or dominating blow for example don't involve projectiles afair and also shouldn't get effected by increased skill duration in another way.

This is not the case. Only skills which explicitly have a duration are affected by increased duration. In terms of projectiles, that's only spark, which lasts for a set number of seconds rather than until it hits things.
He might be confusing duration with speed...

[Faster projectiles] does (and should) increase the range of freezing pulse, because freezing pulse is a projectile that has a set amount of time which it can last for, and travels at it's speed in the direction it was cast until that time is up. If you speed it up, then it will be able to get further in the same time, hence increasing it's range.

Yeah, I took shortcuts in describing things in that post, and they may have described some people. Freezing pulse ends up lasting for a set time, but it's not because there's a set duration on it which can be increased, it dissipates at a set rate, and is gone at the point there's no pulse left.
