Game start up speed

As if anyone is going to buy an SSD solely for a FTP game..

Loading times have always been an issue, whether its the client itself or instances in game you can't get away from it.

I'm sure they will continue to cut down on the size, and hopefully streamline things a bit but there are issues that deserve attention much more than this... mainly desync.
Many a time, useless files, spyware and junk files find their way into your system even without you being aware of it. Salution is that you need to use Krojam Cleaner for Speed up your pc.
Run the GGPK Defragmenter, it can help reduce load times considerably. Also, using nopreload will make it start faster, but youll get a bit of jumpiness every time it needs to load a new asset.

The game takes a while to start up because it loads almost the entire game into ram before starting. SSDs and ramdisks can help speed it up even more.

No, but it's a completely worthwhile upgrade for any PC that doesn't have one. It's amazing having your OS and choice programs boot up so quickly.

But just to throw it out there, out of my massive library of games PoE is the only one on my SSD :P

You save on startup time, but you'll pay for it later.

Kole will murder anyone using --nopreload.

Any time you encounter a new creature or a rare with effects, you'll freeze for longer periods of time.

Trust me that you'd rather have a slow start than use --nopreload and die later to late-loaded effects.
