Steam Key

Is it going to be possible to get a Steam key if we already own POE? Much the way the Humble Bundles always provide them? I'd love to have it listed (and played through) Steam.

I tried to preorder but I cant! I think it's because it's free...

Seriously, you won't need a key to use the steam version, but you will have to install it from the store hub on 23rd tho.

I don't think you need a steam key to play PoE on steam. I'd be surprised if the steam release is anything more than the client application provided by the steam service. Therefore you can download the game with steam and then login and play with the account you already have. Would be stupid if everybody who chooses to use steam had to start from a scratch again, wouldn't it?

There are no steam keys.

Once it's released simply download it and play.
You'll probably be able to easily copy your existing client into steam, so you won't even have to download it if you don't want to.

Typically when steam is hosting games like this, they provide the download then once you login with your account it is permenently tied to your steam account, making it autologon when the game launches. This is just speculation though, some games do it, some don't. All depends on how integrated PoE will be with steam.

Very doubtful that this game will work like that. Most games with their own launcher dont have an auto login when you launch it through steam. DCUO still has you go through their launcher and login, hell even Torchlight 2 still has you login on their login screen. More likely than not when you launch through steam it will just open up the main screen where you log in like normal, the big difference is you bypass the launcher that checks if your version is up to date, since steam will most likely auto update the game like it does for every other game.

Steam is mostly just going to be a way for people that choose it, to organize PoE with the rest of their games and a giant advertisement for GGG to nab a whole giant load of players.

Came here in search for a way to link my existing Version of POE to Steam...

You need no Key... just follow these Steps:

Log in to POE -> https://www.pathofexile.com/ (if you can read this, you maybe already logged in?)
HOME -> MY ACCOUNT

search and select: Manage Account
select: Steam
select: link with steam -> log in existing steam account
wait for email
click link in email
Asked if you realy want -> select YES
done

Correct me if I'm wrong.

WHY did I do that ?
cause it's realy, realy boring to always get the Login message:
"Your logging in from a differnt Location" (I am not!!! my ISP is.)...
Password... email... unlock... password... play
Every new Day...(ISP auto reconnect every 24hrs)
Hope it fixes my Problem.

It is NOT possible to start POE from Steam with auto log in...this way!
